Kinski's own Nosferatu the Vampyre ( 1979 ) has its own Renfield, actor Roland Topor, who, as in the original, is Jonathan Harker's employer who goes insane before Dracula arrives.

The house is licensed for wedding and civil partnership ceremonies, and has been used as a background for television series and films, including Prank Patrol, Cash in the Attic, Coronation Street and The Last Vampyre.

While even folkloric vampires of the Balkans and Eastern Europe had a wide range of appearance ranging from nearly human to bloated rotting corpses, it was interpretation of the vampire by the Christian Church and the success of vampire literature, namely John Polidori's 1819 novella The Vampyre that established the archetype of charismatic and sophisticated vampire ; it is arguably the most influential vampire work of the early 19th century, inspiring such works as Varney the Vampire and eventually Dracula.

In a televised adaptation of this case entitled The Last Vampyre, produced by Granada Television and starring Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes, the emphasis of the case was significantly altered.

Tales of the Dead was an English anthology of horror fiction, translated anonymously from the French book Fantasmagoriana ( famous for inspiring Mary Shelley and John William Polidori to write Frankenstein and The Vampyre respectively ) by Sarah Elizabeth Utterson, published in 1813 by White, Cochrane and Co ..

Mary Shelley produced what would become Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus and Polidori was inspired by a fragmentary story of Byron's to produce The Vampyre, the progenitor of the romantic vampire genre.

The association of Byron with vampires continued in 1819 with the publication of The Vampyre by John William Polidori, which was inspired by an unfinished story by Byron, " Fragment of a Novel ", also known as " The Burial: A Fragment ", first published in Mazeppa in 1819.

Much to Byron's annoyance, The Vampyre was widely attributed to him and even included in the third volume of Byron's works by popular demand.

Between 1842 to the 1867 he wrote up to 115 popular novels for the English bookseller and publisher, Edward Lloyd, including the best-sellers Ada the Betrayed, Varney the Vampyre and The String of Pearls.

Polidori wrote " The Vampyre ", the first vampire story in English.

His oldest son John William Polidori was a physician to Lord Byron and author of the first vampire story in English, The Vampyre ( 1819 ).

In 2010 the song Vampyre Erotica was featured in the soundtrack to the British cult comedy vampire film The Vampires of Bloody Island released on the Wibbell DVD label.

This deviation also appears in Nosferatu the Vampyre, the 1979 remake of the 1922 film.

Max Schrek's disturbing portrayal of this role in Murnau's film was copied by Klaus Kinski in Werner Herzog's remake Nosferatu the Vampyre ( 1979 ).

At Byron's villa they told ghost stories and invented the basic ideas which led eventually to Mary Shelley's book Frankenstein and Polidori's novel The Vampyre.

Beginning with Castle of Otranto ( 1764 ) by Horace Walpole, 4th Earl of Orford, it also included Mary Shelley's Frankenstein ( 1818 ) and John Polidori's The Vampyre ( 1819 ), which helped found the modern horror genre.
