The Geelong Football Club was formally established at a meeting held in the Victoria Hotel on 18 July 1859.

There he kept a permanent room at the Hotel Reina Victoria ( built in 1906 ) where his room remains to this day as he left it, a mini-museum of Rilkeana.

* In the 6 June 2007, second season, eleventh episode of The Chaser's War on Everything, the possibility of Tinky Winky being homosexual was parodied when the Chaser's tested the Peel Hotel ( in Collingwood, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia )' s gaydar ( the hotel's Peel dancebar was given the right to ban heterosexual patrons ) with a Tinky Winky costumed figure that acted in a stereotypical homosexual fashion.

Both bus services depart from the Victoria bus terminal located at 900 Douglas Street, behind the Fairmont Empress Hotel.

The largest loss of life caused by fire occurred on February 12, 1936 when the Victoria Mansion Hotel located on the southeast corner of Lexington Avenue and Seventh Street was destroyed and 16 people killed.

This comprehensive scheme was for the redevelopment of much of Whitehall, Horse Guards Parade, the embankment of the River Thames on both sides of the river in the areas to the north and south of the Palace of Westminster, this would eventual be partially realised as the Victoria Embankment and Albert Embankment, three new bridges across the Thames, a vast Hotel where Charing Cross railway station was later built, the enlargement of the National Gallery ( Barry's son Edward would later extend the Gallery ) and new buildings around Trafalgar Square and along the new embankments and the recently created Victoria Street.

In the centre of the village, the picturesque Ferrybridge Hotel and the Albert Hotel, named to commemorate a visit by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, both have traditional bars and each also has a small restaurant.

The buildings are on Dovecote Lane opposite the Victoria Hotel, but as of 2007 are scheduled for demolition to make way for housing.

The Victoria Hotel, a Victorian railway hotel and pub adjacent to the railway station, has received several local awards, including " Nottinghamshire Dining Pub of the Year " – Good Pub Guide 2002, and runner-up for The Times – " Pub of the Year ", 2000.

The Victoria Hotel and the Malt Shovel, on Union Street, both appear in the 2010 and 2011 editions of the CAMRA Good Beer Guide.

No ruins are now preserved in the town itself, but there are many remains in the villa quarter to the east of the town on the road to Stabiae, of which traces still exist, running much higher than the modern road, across the mountain ; the site of one of the largest ( possibly belonging to the Imperial house ) is now occupied by the Hotel Victoria, under the terrace of which a small theatre was found in 1855 ; an ancient rock-cut tunnel descends hence to the shore.

The beautiful Rayleigh House at the top of the high street, originally built as the Victoria Temperance Hotel by Mary Chrystie, now contains a healthcare practice.

Two hotels, the Euston Hotel and the Victoria Hotel, flanked the northern half of this approach.

The station is adjacent to Victoria Embankment Gardens and is close to Charing Cross station, Embankment Pier, Hungerford Bridge, Cleopatra's Needle, the Royal Air Force Memorial, the Savoy Chapel and Savoy Hotel and the Playhouse and New Players Theatres.

Smith's physical resemblance to Elvis and his mannerisms happened to catch the attention of DJ Norm Pringle of Victoria, BC Canada, who had been playing " That's All Right, Mama " and " Heartbreak Hotel " on the radio.

It is situated next to the Royal Glen Hotel which accommodated Queen Victoria when she was young, however it was just a house then.

The building was later renamed the Royal Victoria Hotel, now the building has been converted into flats and a bar and nightclub in the left and right wings respectively.
