The Wainganga, the Wardha, the Pench, the Kanhan and Penganga rivers, discharge an enormous volume of water into the Godavari river system.

Physiographically, the district is situated in the Wainganga and Wardha river basin.

It further flows in NW-SE direction finally merging into the Wainganga river at the south eastern corner of the district.

The Wainganga river which flows along the border of Chandrapur and Gadchiroli district is the main river of the district.

The Wainganga ( Marathi: व ै नग ं ग ा नद ी) is a river of India, which originates about 12 km from Mundara village of Seoni district in the southern slopes of the Satpura Range of Madhya Pradesh, and flows south through Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra in a very winding course of approximatedly 360 miles.

The eastern and western boundaries of the district are well defined by the rivers Wainganga and Wardha, the tributaries of Godavari.

The chief tributaries of the Wainganga are the Garhavi, Khobragadi, Kathani and Potphondi on the western bank and Andhari on the eastern bank.

Between the 14th and the 18th centuries, three main Gond / Goindi kingdoms existed ; Garha-Mandla occupied the upper Narmada Valley, Deogarh-Nagpur occupied the Kanhan River and upper Wainganga River valleys, and Chanda-Sirpur occupied present-day Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and eastern Adilabad districts.

Originated in the Dhanora Pendhri Hills and joins Wainganga near Gadchiroli city.

In reality though the area around the Wainganga is not actually a rainforest.

The Disney interpretation of Kipling's novel as an animated film showed Mowgli and the other various other jungle characters moving around in lush tropical rain forests but the area around the Wainganga is dry and dusty.

The forests of the Kanha National Park built around the Wainganga do have tiger, panther and bear populations though.

The Wardha River joins the Wainganga River south of Chamorshi and forms the Pranhita River.

After traversing 528 km, it joins the Wainganga forming the Pranhita, which ultimately flows into the Godavari River.

If the Onemen Bay is considered part of the river, it also receives the Velikaya River ( Chukotka ) from the south and the Kanchalan River from the north.

Near the west end of Lake Thun, the river receives the waters of the Kander, which has just been joined by the Simme.

The Black Sea also receives river water from large Eurasian fluvial systems to the north of the Sea, of which the Don, Dnieper and Danube are the most significant.

The river is 790 km ( 491 mi ) long and receives the water from over 30, 000 km² of land.

Below Toledo it receives the Guadarrama river.

The northern part of Aksai Chin is referred to as the Soda Plain and contains Aksai Chin's largest river, the Karakosh, The river, which receives meltwater from a number of glaciers, crosses the Kunlun farther northwest, in Pishan County and enters the Tarim Basin, where it serves as one of the main sources of water for Karakax and Hotan Counties.

The city receives all its water supply from wells in unconsolidated river aquifers, and is reputed to be the largest city in the United States to do so.

On the north or left bank of the river they are ( from west to east ): Pine Creek ( and its tributary Little Pine Creek ) which the river receives just west of Jersey Shore ; Larrys Creek, which the river receives about 7 km ( 4 mi ) south of Salladasburg ; Lycoming Creek which the river receives in western Williamsport ; Loyalsock Creek which the river receives between Williamsport and Montoursville ; and Muncy Creek ( and its tributary Little Muncy Creek ), which the river receives just north of Muncy.

In the highlands, river courses are frequently broken by discontinuities in the terrain, and where they encounter escarpments, numerous waterfalls and rapids have eroded a passage.

Larger species and the more sedentary species ( like fast river specialists ) tend to have pair-bonds that last numerous years.

Despite numerous successful campaigns and raids by the Roman army over the Rhine in the years after the battle, the Romans were to make no more concerted attempts to conquer and permanently hold Germania beyond the river.
