Pre-1778 artifacts that never left the city since its founding include the Vajradhara statue made by Zanabazar himself in 1683 ( the city's main deity kept at the Vajradhara temple ), a highly ornate throne presented to Zanabazar by the Kangxi Emperor ( before 1723 ), a sandalwood hat presented to Zanabazar by the Dalai Lama ( c. 1663 ), Zanabazar's large fur coat which was also presented by the Kangxi Emperor and a great number of original statues made by Zanabazar himself ( e. g. the Green Tara ).

Zanabazar ( 1635 – 1723 ), Zaya Pandita ( 1599 – 1662 ) and Danzanravjaa ( 1803 – 1856 ) are among the most famous Mongolian holy men.

The Soyombo script is an abugida created by the Mongolian monk and scholar Bogdo Zanabazar in the late 17th century, that can also be used to write Tibetan and Sanskrit.

A number of great works are attributed to the first Jebtsundamba Khutuktu, Zanabazar.

Another museum is dedicated to the artist Zanabazar.

Like Zanabazar, the second Jebtsundamba also was a member of Mongolia's highest nobility and direct descendant of Genghis Khan.

Shankh Monastery (, Shankh Khiid ) is one of the oldest and most important monasteries in Mongolia, founded in 1647 by Zanabazar.

Zanabazar was the son of the Tüsheet Khan Gombodorj, ruler of central Khalkha Mongolia, and himself became the spiritual head of the Khalkha Mongols.

Galdan's conquest of Khalkha Mongolia made Zanabazar and Chakhundorji submit to the Qing Dynasty in September.

Zanabazar had created it for the translation of Buddhist texts from Sanskrit or Tibetan, and both he and his students used it extensively for that purpose.

At around the same time, Zanabazar also developed the Horizontal square script, which was only rediscovered in 1801.

The first Jebtsundamba, Zanabazar ( 1635 – 1723 ), was identified as the reincarnation of the scholar Taranatha of the Jonang school of Tibetan Buddhism.

She now serves on the board of directors of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the Dallas Theater Center and on the board of trustees of the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts.

Attending three of them in rapid succession, the impoverished Capp was thrown out of each for nonpayment of tuition — the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and Designers Art School in Boston — the latter before launching his amazing career.

The city comprises a large number of theatres and many museums, including the Museum of Fine Arts, the world's oldest art collection accessible to the public.

Sluter was also responsible for the main part of the work on Philip's tomb, which ( restored and partly reconstructed ) has been moved to the Museum of Fine Arts which is housed in the former ducal palace in Dijon.

At Francis C. Hammond High School in Alexandria, Virginia, he did poorly academically, having little interest in school work, but was popular with other students, and after leaving decided that he wanted to study painting at college, thereby beginning his studies at School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in 1964, where he was a roommate of Peter Wolf.

Important museums in Ghent are the Museum voor Schone Kunsten ( Museum of Fine Arts ), with paintings by Hieronymus Bosch, Peter Paul Rubens, and many Flemish masters ; the SMAK or Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst ( City Museum for Contemporary Art ), with works of the 20th century, including Joseph Beuys and Andy Warhol ; and the Design Museum with masterpieces of Victor Horta and Le Corbusier.

One of the more famous examples is the painting Degas's Father Listening to Lorenzo Pagans Playing the Guitar by Edgar Degas, which was painted sometime between 1869 – 72 and is currently owned by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

In 1984, scientists at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston x-rayed Millet's 1870 painting The Young Sherpherdess looking for minor changes, and discovered that it was painted over Captivity.

In addition large art galleries are found across the city, including the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the National Gallery, the Hugh Lane Municipal Gallery, The City Arts Centre, The Douglas Hyde Gallery, The Project Arts Centre and The Royal Hibernian Academy.

Three branches of the National Museum of Ireland are located in Dublin: Archaeology in Kildare Street, Decorative Arts and History in Collins Barracks and Natural History in Merrion Street.
