The apocryphal Arabic Infancy Gospel refers to Gestas and Dismas as Dumachus and Titus, respectively.

" The first reference to the survival of Christ's severed foreskin comes in the second chapter of the apocryphal Arabic Infancy Gospel which contains the following story:

An apocryphal epistle purporting to be from Paul to the Laodiceans is extant in Latin and Arabic ( see Epistle to the Laodiceans ).

The Gospel of James, also known as the Infancy Gospel of James or the Protoevangelium of James, is an apocryphal Gospel probably written about AD 145, which expands backward in time the infancy stories contained the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, and presents a narrative concerning the birth and upbringing of Mary herself.

The text also appears in the account of the annunciation contained in the apocryphal Infancy Gospel of Matthew, in chapter 9.

The reporter of this system is clearly acquainted with the New Testament, since he adopts a phrase from the Epistle to the Corinthians ; he knows that Jesus habitually spoke of himself as Son of Man ; and in denying that Jesus performed miracles before his baptism, he adopts the history as told in the Gospels in opposition to that told in apocryphal Gospels of the Infancy.

The feast is associated with an event recounted not in the New Testament, but in the apocryphal Infancy Narrative of James.

A number of apocryphal texts, the Infancy Gospels grew up with legendary accounts of the intervening period, and these are sometimes shown.

" The story was slightly elaborated in later literature, such as the apocryphal 2nd-century Infancy Gospel of Thomas ( 19: 1-12 ).

The 5th century Decretum Gelasianum includes a Gospel of Barnabas amongst works condemned as apocryphal ; but no certain text or quotation from this work has been identified.

Under the name of Nebro ( rebel ), Yaldabaoth is called an angel in the apocryphal Gospel of Judas.

Others ' irritation from the love and affection presented by Jesus to Mary Magdalene is claimed in the apocryphal Gospel of Philip.

Joseph is referenced in apocryphal and non-canonical accounts such as the Acts of Pilate, a text often appended to the medieval Gospel of Nicodemus and The Narrative of Joseph, and mentioned in the works of early church historians such as Irenaeus ( 125 – 189 ), Hippolytus ( 170 – 236 ), Tertullian ( 155 – 222 ) and Eusebius ( 260 – 340 ), who added details not found in the canonical accounts.

The fragmentary apocryphal Gospel of Peter exonerates Pilate of responsibility for the crucifixion of Jesus, placing it instead on Herod and the Jews who, unlike Pilate, refuse to " wash their hands ".

* In Nicolas Notovith's " The Lost Years of Jesus " ( 1894 ), an apocryphal Gospel he claims to have found in the Leh lamasery, Ladak, Pilatus is seen as an evil man and the Jews as mild and compassionate.

These include the apocryphal gospels, such as the Gospel according to the Hebrews, the Gospel of Thomas and the Gospel of Mary Magdalene.

Origen listed the " Gospel according to Thomas " as being among the heterodox apocryphal gospels known to him ( Hom.

The name of the soldier who pierced Christ's side with a longche is not given in the Gospel of John, but in the oldest known references to the legend, the apocryphal Gospel of Nicodemus appended to late manuscripts of the 4th century Acts of Pilate, the soldier is identified as a centurion and called Longinus ( making the spear's " correct " Latin name Lancea Longini ).

In 1845 he became a follower of the Tübingen school, and in his work Das Evangelium Marcions und das kanonische Evangelium des Lukas, published in 1846 and in which he argued that the Gospel of Luke was based on the apocryphal Gospel of Marcion, he appears as a disciple of the Hegelian new testament scholarFerdinand Baur.

The Gospel of Peter (), or Gospel according to Peter, is one of the non-Canonical gospels which were rejected by the Church Fathers and the Catholic Church's synods of Carthage and Rome, which established the New Testament canon, as apocryphal.

John makes no mention of ritual and the apocryphal, heterodox Gospel of Peter claims that she came to mourn.

The apocryphal Gospel of Peter, on the other hand, is more detailed, specifying " Petronius the centurion with soldiers to guard the tomb ".

In the apocryphal ' Pistis Sophia ', Christ calls upon Mary the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, Martha and Salome to answer his questions concerning an exegesis of scripture and the Gnostic mysteries to create the Greater Soul.

* In the apocryphal Pistis Sophia, Jesus calls his 12 male apostles and his 7 female apostles to discourse after his resurrection.

This new literature in Czech consisted largely of epic poetry of two types: the legend and the knightly epic, both based on apocryphal tales from the Bible, as well as hagiographic legends of earlier periods.

According to Gregory of Tours ( 538 – 594 ), Chilperic II was slain by his brother Gundobad in 493, and his wife drowned with a stone hung around her neck, while of his two daughters, Chrona took the veil and Clotilde was exiled-it is, however, assumed that this tale is apocryphal.

The Nativity of Jesus, also The Nativity, refers to the accounts of the birth of Jesus, primarily based on the two accounts in the gospels of Luke and Matthew, and secondarily on some apocryphal texts.

According to an apocryphal tale, Unruh was nicknamed " Big Daddy " by Raquel Welch, when the two were allegedly romantically involved.

There are two apocryphal stories about the origin of the name.
