The area of King's Cross, London was previously a village known as Battle Bridge which was an ancient crossing of the River Fleet.

Two more are in the near Cadillac area (' Caberfae Ski Resort ' and ' Greenwood Disciples of Christ Church ') and another two are dispersed in surrounding Wexford County (' Battle of Manton ' and ' 1st Wexford County Court House ').

The nearby settlement of Inverlochy was the main settlement in the area before the building of the fort, and was also site of the Battle of Inverlochy.

White troops in the Viipuri area tried to capture the trains ; 50-60 Finns, Red and White, died in the " Battle of the Rahja Trains " in the Karelian Isthmus on 27 January 1918.

Alexander the Great arrived in the area of Afghanistan in 330 BC after defeating Darius III of Persia a year earlier at the Battle of Gaugamela.

Roads from the Old Town valley lead towards the Victorian area of Clive Vale and the former village of Ore, from which " The Ridge ", marking the effective boundary of Hastings, extends north-westwards towards Battle.

The area was first settled by Americans in 1845, after the Battle of Fallen Timbers, with the founding of Fort Industry.

The Republic of Venice was a major maritime power during the Middle Ages and Renaissance, and a staging area for the Crusades and the Battle of Lepanto, as well as a very important center of commerce ( especially silk, grain, and spice ) and art in the 13th century up to the end of the 17th century.

After the Franks under Clovis I defeated the Alamanni in the Battle of Tolbiac in 496, the Franks eventually displaced the Alamanni in the Wiesbaden area over the course of the 6th century.

The U. S. commanders ' initial goal was to pin down German forces in the area to keep them from reinforcing the front lines further north in the Battle of Aachen, where the Allies were fighting a trench war between a network of fortified towns and villages connected with field fortifications, tank traps and minefields.

The area is also home to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which contains the Olduvai Gorge, where some of the oldest hominid fossils are found, as well as the Ngorongoro Crater.

Outdoor recreation, such as hiking, hunting, and world-class trout fishing, as well as Oregon's only National Park at Crater Lake, contribute to the economy of the area.

It serves the Kilimanjaro area including the cities of Arusha and Moshi near Mount Kilimanjaro, and the international tourism industry based on Mount Kilimanjaro, Arusha National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti National Park.

The eruptive period that decapitated Mazama also laid waste to much of the greater Crater Lake area and deposited ash as far east as the northwest corner of what is now Yellowstone National Park, as far south as central Nevada, and as far north as southern British Columbia.

At the same time, a topographer surveyed the area and created the first professional map of the Crater Lake area.

The area was briefly abandoned due to volcanic ash from the Sunset Crater Volcano.

Apart from study, Thielsen and the rest of the Crater Lake area features heavily into nineteenth and early twentieth century exploration.

A major population influx began soon after the eruption of Sunset Crater in the 11th century ( between 1040 – 1100 ), which blanketed the area with volcanic ash ; this improved agricultural productivity and the soil's ability to retain water.

Rogue River near Indian Mary Park in Josephine County Parks along the Rogue River, which begins in the northwest corner of Crater Lake National Park, include Prospect State Scenic Viewpoint, a forested area south of Prospect with a hiking trail leading to waterfalls and the Rogue River.

On a clear day, the Sky Lakes Wilderness area, Crater Lake, Rogue Valley, and Mount Shasta are visible from the summit.

It is much closer to modern-day Britain than Judge Dredd's Brit-Cit by the same writers, but contains areas of nuclear devastation such as the Greater London Crater and Birmingham Gap ; areas known to survive include Salisbury ( now a major area and political centre ), Glasgow, Newcastle, Dover, Christchurch & Bournemouth ( now a combined conurbation ), Cardiff, Isles of Scilly, and Winchester.

The San Francisco Peaks near Flagstaff, south of the Grand Canyon, are volcanic landforms produced by igneous activity that began in that area about 6 million years ago and continued until 1064 C. E., when basalt erupted in Sunset Crater National Monument.

The Sunset Crater eruption produced a blanket of ash and lapilli covering an area of more than and forced the temporary abandonment of settlements of the local Sinagua people.

Given that Sunset Crater is such a young volcanic feature of this area and that eruptions have occurred every several thousands of years in frequency, it is likely that there will be a future eruption in the San Francisco Volcanic field.

They also closed some trails in the area because of the risk of debris flows from the possible melting of the Crater Glacier in the volcanic crater.

It is located on the Crater Lake Highway and is a popular salmon fishing area.
