Interestingly, this ACT exclave surrounds a small exclave of NSW territory, namely the Point Perpendicular lighthouse which is at the southern tip of the Beecroft Peninsula.

This port was constructed in a semicircle with two moles and a lighthouse at its mouth.

* 1900 – A relief crew arrives at the lighthouse on the Flannan Isles of Scotland, only to find the previous crew has disappeared without a trace.

Other features of the cape include the Cape Canaveral lighthouse and Port Canaveral.

Also present in the park is Cape Bailey Light, a lighthouse built in 1950.

There is a walking track that takes in the northern end of the island, the lighthouse on the north-west point which overlooks Little Fitzroy Island, and the island's peak, which offers stunning 360 degree views over the surrounding reefs and Cape Grafton.

The island is home to Queensland's oldest operating lighthouse located at Cape Moreton on the northern tip of the island.

The cast-iron lighthouse was brought from Wellfleet Harbor, Cape Cod, Massachusetts in 1925.

The Ayres Davies Lens Exhibit Building houses one of the finest collections of restored Fresnel lenses in the world, including the rotating first order Fresnel lens from the Cape Canaveral lighthouse and the restored original Ponce Inlet lighthouse first-order Fresnel lens.

Truro is the site of the Cape Cod Highland Lighthouse ( also known as the Cape Cod Light ), the first lighthouse on Cape Cod.

It is also the site of United States Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England ( formerly USCG Group Woods Hole ), the Nobska Light lighthouse, and the terminus of the Steamship Authority ferry route between Cape Cod and the island of Martha's Vineyard.

Cape May Point is home to the Cape May Light, though Lower Township claims that the lighthouse is located in that municipality.

The construction of a lighthouse at the mouth of the Cape Fear river was authorized by the Commissioners of the Cape Fear in 1789.

On August 1, 1898 the USS Puritan under the command of Captain Frederic W. Rodgers, was sailing by the coastline of the city of Fajardo, when Rogers noticed the " Faro de Las Cabezas de San Juan " ( Cape San Juan lighthouse ) which was supposed to be the landing site for the US Army in Puerto Rico.

Sultan Yusuf Ali Kenadid of the Sultanate of Hobyo, which also controlled a portion of the coast, later granted concessions to an Aden-based French hotel proprietor and a former French Army officer to construct a lighthouse in Cape Guardafui.

The Cape Agulhas Lighthouse | lighthouse at Cape Agulhas has guided many ships around the cape over the years.

It was invented by Robert Stevenson, for use by an 82-ton converted fishing boat, Pharos, which was used as a lightvessel between 1807 and 1810 near to Bell Rock whilst the lighthouse was being constructed.

That same year, a lighthouse was erected under the orders of President Porfirio Díaz.

A much more valuable and practical result of Brewster's optical researches was the improvement of the British lighthouse system.

The lighthouse was completed in the 3rd century BC.

The lighthouse was badly damaged in the earthquake of 956, then again in 1303 and 1323.

Kerosene started replacing lard oil in the 1870s and the lighthouse service was finally converted by the late 1880s.

The uses of these islands vary: Davids ' Island, the former location of the U. S. Army ’ s Fort Slocum, is currently unoccupied but is slated for use as passive parkland ; Glen Island is a County park for passive and active recreation ; Huckleberry Island is largely undeveloped and has one of the largest rookeries for some shore bird species in western Long Island Sound ; Columbia Island was the former site of CBS television broadcast antennas and is currently unoccupied ; Echo Island is used by a private yacht club ; Execution Rocks is the site of a 19th century lighthouse listed on the National Register of Historic Places ; Pea Island is owned by Huguenot Yacht Club but remains undeveloped ; Goose Island is undeveloped ; Clifford, Harrison and Tank Islands are part of a nature preserve and city park ; and Oak and Pine Islands are used as private residences.

It was too dangerous to return to North Sunderland so they rowed to the lighthouse to take shelter.

A lighthouse was constructed in 1802 and commissioned by President Thomas Jefferson, warning of dangerous shoals and shallows in the area.

The lighthouse was automated in 1978, and continues to operate as a navigational aid to the nearby Intracoastal Waterway.
