One popular cruise is from Caletilla Beach to Roqueta Island, which has places to snorkel, have lunch, a small zoo and a lighthouse.

Interestingly, this ACT exclave surrounds a small exclave of NSW territory, namely the Point Perpendicular lighthouse which is at the southern tip of the Beecroft Peninsula.

It is shaped somewhat like a short lighthouse ( with no illumination ).

The lighthouse remains a civic symbol of the city of Alexandria and of the Alexandria Governorate with which the city is more or less coterminous.

A lighthouse is a tower, building, or other type of structure designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses and used as an aid to navigation for maritime pilots at sea or on inland waterways.

In a lighthouse, the source of light is called the " lamp " ( whether electric or fueled by oil ) and the concentration of the light is by the " lens " or " optic ".

* There is a historic stone lighthouse located on Cumberland Head, which is privately owned.

* On Point Au Roche, part of Beekmantown, New York, there is a privately owned, historic lighthouse.

* 1859 – The current Cape Lookout, North Carolina, lighthouse is lit for the first time.

Germany's smallest lighthouse is located here, being also the only one with a thatched roof.

Used horizontally, a sextant can measure the apparent angle between two landmarks such as a lighthouse and a church spire, which can then be used to find the distance off or out to sea ( provided the distance between the two landmarks is known ).

This phenomenon is known as elastic scattering, and the electron ( or lighthouse ) is known as the scatterer.

* Claudius begins construction of Portus, the harbour bears a lighthouse and is sited on the right bank of the Tiber.

Once a flourishing small community with a lighthouse, the island was destroyed by coastal erosion and now exists as a shoal that is exposed at low tide.

The northernmost point of the Weser is marked by the Alte Weser lighthouse.

On the west side of the island is Keahole Point lighthouse ; NGS data predicts the lighthouse's lat-lon by the stars will come out to 19. 7244 N 156. 0787 W. Based on the astro lat-lons the distance from the Hilo water tank to the Keahole Point lighthouse calculates to be 108. 8 km, but the actual distance turns out to be 105. 5 km.

The uses of these islands vary: Davids ' Island, the former location of the U. S. Army ’ s Fort Slocum, is currently unoccupied but is slated for use as passive parkland ; Glen Island is a County park for passive and active recreation ; Huckleberry Island is largely undeveloped and has one of the largest rookeries for some shore bird species in western Long Island Sound ; Columbia Island was the former site of CBS television broadcast antennas and is currently unoccupied ; Echo Island is used by a private yacht club ; Execution Rocks is the site of a 19th century lighthouse listed on the National Register of Historic Places ; Pea Island is owned by Huguenot Yacht Club but remains undeveloped ; Goose Island is undeveloped ; Clifford, Harrison and Tank Islands are part of a nature preserve and city park ; and Oak and Pine Islands are used as private residences.

* Pater Noster Lighthouse, Swedish lighthouse located in Skagerrak

Since 1855, the prominent black and white Kampen lighthouse is located between Kampen and Wenningstedt, it is the oldest one on the island.

* Hollum, the most populated village, located at the West Coast, home to the island's lighthouse

The Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse is an exterior recreation of the 1877 screwpile lighthouse of the same name and is located on the Manteo waterfront.

The island is home to Queensland's oldest operating lighthouse located at Cape Moreton on the northern tip of the island.

The city is also known as the location of the Point Pinos Lighthouse, the oldest continuously-operating lighthouse on the West Coast, Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History, located in the historic downtown, the Stowitts Museum & Library and one of the filming locations for Roger Spottiswoode's 1989 film Turner and Hooch.

Point Montara Light is a lighthouse in Montara, located just west of the Cabrillo Highway at Point Montara.

The lighthouse tower and museum are located south of Daytona Beach and are open to the public year round.

As shipping increased, a lighthouse was needed to warn of a sand shoals that reached out into Little Bay de Noc from Sand Point, a sandspit located just south of and adjacent to the harbor area.

Split Rock Lighthouse State Park is also located near Two Harbors, Minnesota and offers a variety of activities to do in and around the park boundary. The park is most known for its historic lighthouse for which it is named after.

Cape May Point is home to the Cape May Light, though Lower Township claims that the lighthouse is located in that municipality.

The village headquarters of Old Field is located near the lighthouse at the end of Old Field Point.

The Kullen Lighthouse, the most powerful lighthouse in Scandinavia, is located on the western point of Kullaberg.

Interesting locations in the municipality includes a monument honouring the Treaty of Brömsebro between Denmark and Sweden 1645, and the Garpen lighthouse, located on a small islet outside the coast, where one can spend the night on a hostel.

The Ulla lighthouse is located at the north end of Haramsøya.

The lighthouse Store Torungen is located on an island outside Arendal.

The Homborsund lighthouse station is located within the municipality.

The Saltholmen Lighthouse, located on an island off Lillesand, is a nineteenth century lighthouse with a slate roof and a concrete tower for the light.

At the Hudson's shore, in Fort Washington Park stands the Little Red Lighthouse, a small lighthouse located at the tip of Jeffrey's Hook at the base of the eastern pier of the George Washington Bridge.

* The Stanley Fort is a PLA military barracks located at the southernmost part of Stanley peninsula, south of the lighthouse.

* Sister Island Lighthouse – A St Lawrence Seaway lighthouse which is located near Schermerhorn Landing is only visible by water and is upstream from Dark Island.

The neighbouring Pett Levels and Pools, and the Pannel Valley nature reserve are accessible via Winchelsea and Winchelsea Beach a few miles to the west, whilst Scotney Lake lies just off the Lydd road and the RSPB reserve at Dungeness lies a few miles further to the east with the Bird Observatory located in the old lighthouse.
