The station is the location of a London Underground signal box at the eastern end of the platforms and, several hundred yards east of the station, the modern signal control centre for all c2c operations on the line.

The station itself is in a structure some yards away from the platforms.

The Central Line passes under the Gospel Oak to Barking Line adjacent to Leytonstone High Road railway station, about 400 metres ( 430 yards ) south of the tube station platforms.
