Muslims refer to the Torah as Tawrat (, " Law "), an Arabic word for the revelations given to the Islamic prophet Musa (, Moses in Arabic ).

Musa (; meaning Drawn out of water ), known as Moses in the Old Testament, is considered a prophet, messenger, lawgiver and leader in Islam.

Many Sunni Muslims fast during this day, because it is recorded in the hadith that Musa ( Moses ) and his people obtained a victory over the Egyptian Pharaoh on the 10th day of Muharram ; accordingly Islamic prophet Muhammad asked Muslims to fast on this day, and also a day extra either before or after, so that they are not similar to Jews ( since, according to him, Jews used to fast for one day due to the same reason, and many practices recorded in the hadith are specifically performed to avoid any apparent similarity to those of contemporary neighbouring Jews and Christians ).

Regarding Safiyya's Jewish descent, Muhammad once said to his wife, " If they discriminate you again, tell them that your husband is Muhammad, your father was the prophet Aaron and your uncle was prophet Musa.

The Islamic prophet Muhammad said, " He who observes Al-Bardan ( i. e., Fajr and ` Asr prayers ) will enter Jannah. Sahih Bukhari and Muslim, Narrated by Abu Musa.

Jesus ( known as Isa in Islam ) is much revered by Muslims as a very important prophet of Islam, similar to Adam, Ibrahim, Musa and Muhammad but not as the Son of God as is the belief in Christianity.

Then disputes ensued and they asked prophet Musa for help.

The fourth encounter is with Micaiah, the prophet who, when asked for advice on a military campaign, first assures Ahab he will be successful and ultimately gives Ahab a glimpse into God's plan for Ahab to die in battle ( 1 Kings 22 ).

When her son Joseph III became president / prophet of what would be later known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she was again asked to compile a hymnal.

A well known Hadith of the prophet says: " I asked the Prophet who has the greatest right over a man, and he said, ' His mother '".

that is, on the basis of his own sinfulness and abject wretchedness, Piepsam becomes a prophet who in his ecstasy and in the name of God imprecates doom on Life -- not only the cyclist now, but the audience, the world, as well: `` all you light-headed breed ''.

In archaic Greece he was the prophet, the oracular god who in older times was connected with " healing ".

In the Hebrew Bible and the Qur ' an, Aaron ( or ; Ahărōn, Hārūn, Greek ( Septuagint ): Ααρών ), who is often called "' Aaron the Priest "' () and once Aaron the Levite () ( Exodus 4: 14 ), was the older brother of Moses, ( Exodus 6: 16-20, 7: 7 ; Qur ' an 28: 34 ) and a prophet of God.

2 Maccabees 2: 4-10, written around 100 BC, says that the prophet Jeremiah, " being warned by God " before the Babylonian invasion, took the Ark, the Tabernacle, and the Altar of Incense, and buried them in a cave on Mount Nebo ( Jordan ), informing those of his followers who wished to find the place that it should remain unknown " until the time that God should gather His people again together, and receive them unto mercy.

Eventually these were restored to the prophet Joseph Smith and various others in a series of divine conferrals and ordinations by angelic men who had held this authority during their lifetimes ( see this partial list of restoration events ).

Similar to the traditional view in Judaism, conservative Christians view the Book of Daniel as written by the prophet Daniel, who they claim wrote the book around 536 BC after having been in captivity for about 70 years.

The book of Jeremiah depicts a remarkably introspective prophet, a prophet who was impetuous and often angered by the role into which he has been thrust.

* Chapters 1 to 39 ( First Isaiah, Proto-Isaiah or Original Isaiah ): the work of the original prophet Isaiah, who worked in Jerusalem between 740 and 687 BCE.

Samuel answers the description of the " prophet like Moses " predicted in Deuteronomy 18: 15-22: like Moses, he has direct contact with Yahweh, the God of the Israelites, acts as a judge, and is a perfect leader who never makes mistakes.

He is specifically mentioned by Ben Sirah ( a writer of the Hellenistic period who listed the " great sages " of Israel ) and 4 Maccabees ( 1st century CE ), and by the 1st century CE historian Josephus, says that the prophet wrote two books.

In Judaism and Christianity, its authorship is attributed to a prophet who lived in the Assyrian Period, Obadiah, whose name means “ servant or worshipper of Yahweh ”.

It tells the story of a Hebrew prophet named Jonah ben Amittai who is sent by God to prophesy the destruction of Nineveh but tries to escape the divine mission.

The first stage was the collection and arrangement of some spoken sayings of the historical Micah ( the material in chapters 1-3 ), in which the prophet attacks those who build estates through oppression and depicts the Assyrian invasion of Judah as Yahweh's punishment on the kingdom's corrupt rulers, including a prophecy that the Temple will be destroyed.

It has been speculated that his ancestor Iddo was the head of a priestly family who returned with Zerubbabel (), and that Zechariah may himself have been a priest as well as a prophet.

Due to the liturgical nature of the book of Habakkuk, there have been some scholars who think that the author may have been a temple prophet.

Divine revelation for the direction of the entire church comes from God to the President of the Church, who is viewed by Latter-day Saints as a prophet in the same sense as Noah, Abraham, Moses, Peter, and other biblical leaders.

The church rapidly gained a following, who viewed Smith as their prophet.

" 19: 25-27 Again, the prophet Daniel writes, " Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt.

: Matthew 24: 15-26 ( ESV ) " So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place ( let the reader understand ), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

The prophet has a vision of the angel Gabriel, who tells him, " Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city ( i. e., Israel and Jerusalem ).

Following the defeat of Gog, the last judgment begins: " The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

" There have been people who have come to the prophet and explained how they love to be engaged in prayer and fasting for the sake of God.

The Christian view of Jesus as Messiah goes beyond such claims and is the fulfillment and union of three anointed offices ; a prophet like Moses who delivers God's commands and covenant and frees people from bondage, a High Priest in the order of Melchizedek overshadowing the Levite priesthood and a king like King David ruling over Jews, and like God ruling over the whole world and coming from the line of David.
