Notably, the Virginia Dare Hotel and Arcade, a neoclassical building designed in 1927 by William Lee Stoddart, continues to form the skyline of Elizabeth City and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Close to completion the building structure dominates the historic skyline again

A ghost exact replica of the Condé Nast Building is featured in the Battlestar Galactica universe, as a prominent building in the Caprica City skyline.

Its architecture is meant to evoke the New York City skyline ; the hotel includes several towers configured to resemble New York City towers such as the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building.

The second screen ( the main screen ) shows the top of the Empire State Building, while the third screen ( intermediate ) shows the lower skyline and the Statue of Liberty.

Therefore, from its completion in 1928 until 1964, the City Hall was the tallest building in Los Angeles, and shared the skyline with only a few structures having decorative towers, including the Richfield Tower and the Eastern Columbia Building.

The backdrop used for the bandstand depicts the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building set within a Los Angeles skyline, in recognition of the Late Night roots.
