A number of sources list the height of Tin Mine Falls as 459m ( 1, 381 ') or 360m ( 1080 '), and quote a story concerning the origin of this figure: " The falls were apparently measured in 1990 by a Dr. John Pease ... using a plumb line "

In this final phase of the geologic story, an enormous discharge of water caused local deep scour features ( e. g. the Potholes at Little Falls ), and extensive sand and gravel deposition, which is one of the key sources of municipal groundwater including the Scotia Delta, which is also known as the Great Flats Aquifer.

Joyce Carol Oates has brought the story of Love Canal into her 2004 novel The Falls however setting the suspicions of harm to the 1960s.

The next part of the story involves Holmes's explanation of how he got out of the bind at Reichenbach Falls.

A further report can be found in the Missouri Democrat ( St. Louis ), which, in October 1865, reported on the story of Rocky Mountain trapper James Lumley, who claimed to have discovered fragments of rock bearing " curious hieroglyphics " which seemed to form a compartmentalized object which he believed was being used to transport " an animate being ", after investigating a meteor impact near Great Falls, Montana.
