In 1983, saxophonist Arthur Blythe's album Light Blue: Arthur Blythe Plays Thelonious Monk was released by Columbia Records.
In December 1961, he recorded two albums for Columbia Records under the aegis of Cannonball Adderley: A Portrait of Thelonious ( with Michelot and Clarke ), and A Tribute to Cannonball ( with the addition of Don Byas and Idrees Sulieman — despite the title, Adderley only plays on one alternate take ).
Stitt joined the all-star group Giants of Jazz, which also featured Art Blakey, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Kai Winding and bassist Al McKibbon ) and made albums for Atlantic Records, Concord Records and Emarcy Records.
