The Commission shall certify to the Secretary of State, upon his request, copies of the formal submissions of claims filed pursuant to subsection ( B ) of Section 4 of this Act for transmission to the foreign government concerned.

There shall be deducted from the amount of each payment made pursuant to subsection ( C ) of Section 8, as reimbursement for the expenses incurred by the United States, an amount equal to 5 per centum of such payment.

::( 2 ) The same rule shall apply in the case of the death, resignation, removal from office, or inability of an individual acting as President under this subsection.

:: If, at the time when under subsection ( a ) of this section a Speaker is to begin the discharge of the powers and duties of the office of President, there is no Speaker, or the Speaker fails to qualify as Acting President, then the President pro tempore of the Senate shall, upon his resignation as President pro tempore and as Senator, act as President.

:: An individual acting as President under subsection ( a ) or subsection ( b ) of this section shall continue to act until the expiration of the then current Presidential term, except that -

::( 1 ) If, by reason of death, resignation, removal from office, inability, or failure to qualify, there is no President pro tempore to act as President under subsection ( b ) of this section, then the officer of the United States who is highest on the following list, and who is not under disability to discharge the powers and duties of the office of President shall act as President: Secretary of State, Secretary of the Treasury, Secretary of Defense, Attorney General, Secretary of the Interior, Secretary of Agriculture, Secretary of Commerce, Secretary of Labor, Secretary of Health and Human Services, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Secretary of Transportation, Secretary of Energy, Secretary of Education, Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Secretary of Homeland Security.

::( 2 ) An individual acting as President under this subsection shall continue so to do until the expiration of the then current Presidential term, but not after a qualified and prior-entitled individual is able to act, except that the removal of the disability of an individual higher on the list contained in paragraph ( 1 ) of this subsection or the ability to qualify on the part of an individual higher on such list shall not terminate his service.

::( 3 ) The taking of the oath of office by an individual specified in the list in paragraph ( 1 ) of this subsection shall be held to constitute his resignation from the office by virtue of the holding of which he qualifies to act as President.

( b ) Content .— The statement required under subsection ( a ) shall certify that the periodic report containing the financial statements fully complies with the requirements of section 13 ( a ) or 15 ( d ) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 ( 15 U. S. C.

( a ) Except as provided in subsection ( b ) of this section, whoever, whether inside or outside the United States, seizes or detains and threatens to kill, to injure, or to continue to detain another person in order to compel a third person or a governmental organization to do or abstain from doing any act as an explicit or implicit condition for the release of the person detained, or attempts or conspires to do so, shall be punished by imprisonment for any term of years or for life and, if the death of any person results, shall be punished by death or life imprisonment.

*( 2 ) The candidate nominated in accordance with the provisions of the foregoing subsection shall submit to the Congress the political program of the Government he or she intends to form and shall seek the confidence of the House.

( 3 ) Nothing in subsection ( 2 ) shall be construed as limiting the circumstances in which no consent is obtained.

The case centered on subsection ( d )( 1 ) of which provides that the NEA Chairperson shall ensure that artistic excellence and artistic merit are the criteria by which applications are judged.

Some laws are still passed retrospectively, in 1990 the Pakistan Act ( which readmitted Pakistan to the Commonwealth ) was one such law, despite being passed on 29 June 1990, section 2 subsection 3 states that " This Act shall be deemed to have come into force on 1st October 1989 ", nine months before it was enacted.

The Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed out of the sums covered into any of the funds pursuant to subsection ( B ) of this section, and after making the deduction provided for in Section 7 ( B ) of this Title -- ( 1 )

The Secretary of the Treasury, upon the concurrence of the Secretary of State, is authorized and directed, out of the sum covered into the Yugoslav Claims Fund pursuant to subsection ( B ) of this section, after completing the payments of such funds pursuant to subsection ( C ) of this Section, to make payment of the balance of any sum remaining in such fund to the Government of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia to the extent required under Article 1 ( C ) of the Yugoslav Claims Agreement of 1948.

This subsection does not grant any powers of peace officers of this state to arson investigators other than those necessary for the investigation, detection and apprehension authority granted by this subsection.

: ( a ) ( 1 ) Whoever engages in conduct that violates any of the provisions of law listed in subsection ( b ) and thereby causes the death of, or bodily injury ( as defined in section 1365 ) to, a child, who is in utero at the time the conduct takes place, is guilty of a separate offense under this section.

:( 2 ) The importation of any such knife as is described in the foregoing subsection is hereby prohibited.
