Formerly known as Tippecanoe, and then Tippecanoe City, this town was renamed to Tipp City in 1938 because another town in Ohio was likewise named Tippecanoe.

On the other hand, residents are used to the name Tipp City.

Tipp City Exempted Village Schools serve the city proper and surrounding Monroe Township.

Starting at the Shelby county line, it will run through the south end of Piqua, Troy and Tipp City before meeting up with the Montgomery County Municipal Jail just south of Tipp City.

When these sections are completed, bikers will be able to travel all the way from Tipp City to downtown Dayton via bike path.

As the years passed and the community grew, several more churches of all denominations were built in the Tipp Hill area.

The abutment terminates a fairly intact canal segment that extends at least north to Tipp City.

Construction is planned in the near future to extend the trail north through Miami County to Tipp City, Troy, and Piqua.

This segment includes an intact concrete weir near the abandoned Vandalia water treatment plant ( aka " Tadmore Station ") and a ruined lock (# 16, " Picayune ") about halfway to Tipp City along Canal Road.

Patrick " Packy " Corbett ( born 1909 ), former Onondaga County Sheriff, was named honorary member of the group after growing up on Tipp Hill, however, would not acknowledge vandalizing the traffic light.

* In response to a letter by local businessman Steve Bruns, United States President George W. Bush visited Tipp City for a speech on the Global War on Terrorism at Tippecanoe High School on April 19, 2007.

The visit was the first to Tipp City by a sitting president, and in honor of this visit, a local street was renamed George W. Bush Parkway.

Throughout the years, the local youths are remembered fondly by Tipp Hill residents as the Stonethrowers.

Currently under construction, the Miami County Bike Trail will be Tipp City's addition to the Buckeye Trail.
