Vakama, Turaga ( elder ) leader of their village of Ta-Koro, tasked the duo with traveling across the island of Mata Nui to find the seventh " Toa of Light ".

Toa Vakama, however, succumbed to his Rahi impulses and betrayed the other Toa to join Sidorak, who made him the leader of the Visorak.

The other Toa confronted the Visorak horde in a great battle, during which fellow Toa Matau convinced Vakama to rejoin them.

There are various short stories of the Toa Nuva's adventures during this time, including Tahu Nuva's swinging on vines, Turaga Nokama's betrayal of Gali Nuva, Onua Nuva's single-handed defeat of two Manas crabs, and the horrifying conflict with the frightful Rahi hybrid known as the Rahi Nui, which Turaga Vakama knew from the past.

They each told their own tale of the Toa's struggles to claim the Kanohi Nuva masks to support their points either for or against ; but after Turaga Vakama tells of their fight against the Rahi Nui, which might have been easier if they had known about the beast beforehand, the Turaga agree that the Toa should be informed once the tournament ends.

With that, he finishes off Turahk and joins the Toa Nuva on their way back to meet Turaga Vakama.

There, after another fierce battle, the Toa Metru barely defeated the Rahi -- but since Vakama allowed her to escape, she would return ...

A great weariness overtakes Toa Vakama as a story that had not been told ( not even the other Turaga knew about it ) had come back.

Then from out of the shadows a figure appears and takes the mask from Vakama, and then the Toa Metru falls back to the water.

Krakua tells Vakama that six Toa are going to make a perilous quest into the darkest place he could imagine in order for Krakua to exist.

Now Vakama was really was what he was: A Toa of Fire.

Now Karzahni revealed the truth: Vakama and the other were really meant to become Toa.

Vakama thought to himself: A thousand years ago, he returned to Mata Nui and told his fellow Toa about the evidence that they were really meant to be heroes.

As the battle between the Toa Mahri and the Barraki rages, a sudden change of events occurs ; the Mahri are instantly transported back to Metru Nui, able to breathe air, where Turaga Vakama awaits, informing them of Matoro's deed and of his death.

Vakama, as a Turaga, ( Christopher Gaze ) began again the tale of the Toa Metru ( from where it left off in the previous film ), who sealed the evil Teridax and vowed to save the sleeping Matoran.

They survive and arrive at Metru Nui ; however, the Toa follow the orders of Vakama ( Alessandro Juliani ) and are trapped when spider-like creatures called Visorak (" Or in their tongue, the stealers of life ", states Whenua ) attack the Toa with their spinners, paralyzing them.

As the Toa hung above in their cocoons, Matau ( Brian Drummond ) blames Vakama for leading them into a trap.

Vakama, angry for leading his friends into a trap ( his anger further intensified by Norik's suggestion of using the new Hordika powers which Vakama had not yet learnt to use ), stormed off, determining to get the better of the other Toa by trying save the Matoran alone.

Meanwhile, Vakama is made master of the Visorak hordes and prepares to capture the other Toa.

Vakama realized that the stone was Teridax's, carved from the same protodermis that the Toa sealed him in.

The Toa were soon captured and mutated into bestial half-Toa half-Rahi Toa Hordika.

They explain that to revert back to normal, the Toa Hordika must seek out Keetongu, a legendary Rahi rumored to be knowledgeable in venoms and their counter-agents.

When the Toa Metru saw each other, they realized that they were no longer the heroic Toa Metru -- they were half-hero, half-beast Toa Hordika.

About that time, the strange beings -- Rahaga -- introduced themselves and informed the Toa Hordika about what they had to do.

Now the Toa Hordika did not only have external enemies to worry about -- and the Toa Hordika had to battle their own now-savage natures.

The Toa Hordika began their search for the best way to transport the sleeping Matoran to Mata Nui.

At the Great Temple, the Toa Hordika each put their own Makoki Stone in a carving of their shapes and the Mask of Light was revealed.

The Toa Hordika fought the Visorak for a minute and Onewa sealed the Mask of Light in a stone shell to keep the Visorak from snatching it.

Then the Toa Hordika managed to escape from the Great Temple and sealed the Visorak in.

The Toa Hordika joined their hands ( tools ) and their journey for the Makoki stones and the Mask of Light was over.

An interesting event to note is a revelation that several of the Toa Hordika made -- they were not supposed to be the Toa Metru!

The Toa Hordika decide to stay outside of the Great Temple because they feel rejected by the Great Spirit seeing as they are now half beast.

The other Toa Hordika travel inside the Great Temple to see what is taking the Rahaga so long.

The Toa Hordika and Rahaga Norik find an old chute underwater where the tears led them to that takes them to what seems like a completely new island underneath Metru Nui.

Roodaka confronts the Toa Hordika and the freed Rahaga.

But upon arrival, the heroes discover their once beautiful island home has been destroyed and overrun by webs created by spider-like beasts called Visorak, who capture the Toa and poison them, mutating their form into a half-Toa, half-beast state ; Toa Hordika.

In 1832-33, a year after Ngāti Toa under the leadership of Te Rauparaha had defeated Ngāi Tahu at Kaiapoi and Banks Peninsula, Ngāti Toa visited the lake to take moulting ducks.

The modern suburb, just south of Plimmerton, derives its name from the " Parramatta Barracks ", erected on the north shore of Porirua Harbour in about 1846 when the infant government was nervous about the local Ngati Toa tribe under its leader Te Rauparaha.

But the Morbuzakh was just the first of the many enemies the Toa Metru would have to face.

Thankfully, the other Toa arrive just as the battle starts and Hewkii is able to bury Brutaka under a pile of rock, taking him out of the fight temporarily.

As the Toa Inika fight Vezon and Fenrakk, the latter's ability to absorb kinetic energy is proving too much for the heroes ; even when the Toa figure out how to weaken the two without hitting them, Fenrakk can just tap his leg on the ground to regain his and Vezon's strength.

But in the midst of the Toa Inika's mourning the Matoran, they are reunited with all their friends: the Matoran had succeeded in freeing the Toa Nuva, and Axonn is there as well ( Botar had just left after talking to the Nuva ).

When the Toa arrived in the Shadow Leech hive, they found no leeches, and just Mutran instead.
