In recent years George Street in the New Town has grown in prominence, with a large number of new, upmarket public houses and nightclubs opening, along with a number on the parallel Queen Street.

Until World War II there were many Gothic, renaissance and baroque houses in Elbląg's Old Town ; some of them are reconstructed.

The city centre has many clubs, pubs and coffee houses, mainly in the area of the Old Town.
