The Tsing Ma Bridge is a bridge in Hong Kong.

The bridge was named after two of the islands at its ends, namely Tsing Yi and Ma Wan.

The Tsing Ma Bridge links Tsing Yi island on the east to Ma Wan island on the west over Ma Wan Channel.

The Tsing Ma Bridge has been an important gateway to Lantau Island.

The bridge, together with other highway, bridge and tunnel connections in the area, are part of the Tsing Ma Control Area under the Tsing Ma Control Area Ordinance ( Cap.

The control area has been managed by Tsing Ma Management Limited since opening.

Toll payable on the Lantau Link -- of which Tsing Ma Bridge is part -- for motorcycles, private cars, public double-decker buses and heavy goods vehicles are HK $ 20, $ 30, $ 60 and $ 80 respectively, and payable only for the eastbound direction from Lantau to Tsing Yi.

They are massive concrete structures deeply seated on bedrock on the landside of Tsing Yi and Ma Wan island.

The total weight of concrete used in the Tsing Yi anchorage is 200, 000 tonnes and Ma Wan Anchorage is 250, 000 tonnes.

It is located off the north coast of Lantau, near the new town of Tung Chung and is connected to urban areas by the Lantau Link, which is composed of the Kap Shui Mun Bridge, the Ma Wan Viaduct, and the Tsing Ma Bridge.

In the 1970s, six large-scale companies on the island collectively built the Tsing Yi Bridge to connect Tsing Yi Town and Kwai Chung Town over the Rambler Channel.

The western part of Route 8, consisted of Tsing Ma Bridge, Kap Shui Mun Bridge and North Lantau Highway, is the only access for vehicles travelling between Tung Chung and the rest of urban Hong Kong.

A part of the Tung Chung Line was built along with the Kap Shui Mun Bridge and the Tsing Ma Bridge.

Designed by Sir Norman Foster, the huge land reclamation project is linked to the centre of Hong Kong by the Lantau Link, which features three new major bridges: the world's sixth largest suspension bridge, Tsing Ma, which was built in 1997, connecting the islands of Tsing Yi and Ma Wan ; the world's longest cable-stayed bridge carrying both road and railway traffic, Kap Shui Mun, which links Ma Wan and Lantau ; and the world's first major 4-span cable-stayed bridge, Ting Kau, which connects Tsing Yi and the mainland New Territories.

The tunnel was managed by Tsing Ma Management Limited under Tsing Ma Control Area, along with Tsing Ma Bridge, Kap Shui Mun Bridge, Ting Kau Bridge, Rambler Channel Bridge, North Lantau Highway and Tsing Kwai Highway.

Comprising Kap Shui Mun Bridge and Tsing Ma Bridge, the Lantau Link connects Lantau with Tsing Yi, via Ma Wan.

It serves as a hub for the New Territories, like Tsing Yi, Tuen Mun, Yuen Long, Kam Tin, Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung, Sheung Shui and Fanling.

The < font color = green > green taxis </ font >, the second most expensive, serve only parts of the New Territories, including Sha Tin, Tuen Mun, Yuen Long, Fanling, Sheung Shui, Pak Tam Chung, Tai Po, West of Ting Kau and North of Chuen Lung, except Lantau Island, Tsang Tai Uk, Sai Kung, Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung and Tsing Yi.

On August 8, the BBS formally declared open, and was named " Shui Mu Tsing Hua ", often abbreviated as SMTH, which in Chinese means " Water is clear, with trees in florescene ".
