Herbert Hall Turner ( 13 August 1861, Leeds – 20 August 1930, Stockholm ) was a British astronomer and seismologist.

Coached by Derek " Rocky " Turner, Leeds returned to Wembley in 1971 and 1972 but lost out both times — in 1971 losing 24 – 7 to rank outsiders Leigh and suffering the indignity of captain Syd Hynes being the first man to ' take an early bath ' at Wembley.

Turner was ordained a priest in the Church of England in 1951 and served in parishes in Leeds, Crawley and Northampton.

He was born William Ernest Chesney Allen in Brighton, Sussex, England, married Aleta Cosette Turner in Leeds in 1926 and died in Midhurst, Sussex, England.

His father Charles Turner and his father before him, Robert Turner arrived from England as a free settler from Leeds, England owned and ran several hotels in Bathurst including the Royal Hotel which still stands.

Leeds appeared in the Red Skelton film The Show-Off ( 1946 ); Lady in the Lake ( 1947 ), based on a Raymond Chandler story ; and in the Lana Turner vehicle Green Dolphin Street, where she played a Eurasian who drugs the leading man and rolls him for his money.

Considered a Lana Turner look-alike, Leeds was 20 years old and engaged to Turner's ex-husband Stephen Crane at the time of her arrest.

Cheryl Crane, Turner and Stephen's daughter, wrote that Leeds first tried marijuana with members of Stan Kenton's orchestra and that she was introduced to heroin while in jail.

Turner & Newall was responsible for the Armley asbestos disaster in Leeds, UK.

Nick Turner left to form The Barracudas and Richard Dudanski ( exThe 101 ' ers and later Public Image Ltd .) sat in on drums and film maker Patrick Keiller replaced Jeremie Frank on guitar.

Silvestri withdrew Top Cow from Image in 1996 ( although he retained his partnership in the company ), protesting that Liefeld was recruiting artists from his studio, including the highly popular Michael Turner ( Witchblade ).

Philip William Turner ( 3 December 1925 – January 2006 ) is an English author best known for his children's books set in the fictional town of Darnley Mills ( 1964 – 1977 ).
