Flying the P5M-2 Marlin, patrol squadrons dominated the Seaplane Base until the late 1960s along with the seaplane-tender, USS Salisbury Sound.

Perhaps the most dramatic moment in the war for Nova Scotia was when HMS Shannon escorted the captured American frigate USS Chesapeake into Halifax Harbour ( 1813 ).

An 1879 – 1881 expedition commanded by US naval officer George W. DeLong ended tragically when their ship the USS Jeanette, was crushed by ice.

Renamed Magicienne by the French, the schooner again came into American hands on June 28, when a broadside from USS Merrimack forced her to haul down her colors.

The USS Defiant attacked DS9 and managed to take it back when the Bajoran Prophets destroyed an entire Dominion fleet, sent to reinforce Dominion lines, on its way through the wormhole.

The pirates and their hostage were being towed in a lifeboat approximately 100 yards behind the USS Bainbridge ( DDG-96 ), when the three pirates were killed by three DEVGRU snipers with single shots to each of their heads.

In canon, Captain Kirk apprehended Captain Tracey of the USS Exeter when he found evidence of the latter's apparent violation of the Prime Directive.

The technique was also used by Spock to subdue James Kirk in the 2009 film, when Kirk opposes Spock's decision as captain of the USS Enterprise to reunite with the remainder of Starfleet in the Lorentian system, instead of pursuing Nero immediately.

The first raid on Tokyo was the Doolittle Raid of April 18, 1942, when sixteen B-25 Mitchells were launched from USS Hornet to attack targets including Yokohama and Tokyo and then fly on to airfields in China.

Indeed, Captain David Porter of USS Essex complained when the Navy replaced his 12-pounder long guns with 32-pounder carronades.

Farragut was 12 years old when, during the War of 1812, he was given the assignment to bring a ship captured by the USS Essex, safely to port.

Offutt also appeared in the Star Trek episode " Tomorrow Is Yesterday " ( identified as ' the Omaha installation '), when a fighter pilot stationed there detects the approaching USS Enterprise and is transported aboard.
