Internet television has become very popular through services such as RTÉ Player in Ireland ; BBC iPlayer, 4oD, ITV Player ( also STV Player and UTV Player ) and Demand Five in the United Kingdom ; Hulu in the United States ; Nederland 24 in the Netherlands ; ABC iview and Australia Live TV in Australia ; Tivibu in Turkey.

The radio station is frequently advertised on parent company UTV Media's UTV TV channel along with other subsidiaries, such as UTV Internet, UTV Talk and U105.

UTV Internet is part of UTV Media plc, the owners of the ITV franchise in Northern Ireland.

UTV provide a number of Fiber-Optic and ADSL based Broadband options, in addition to dial-up Internet for Residential and Business Customers.

Along with Internet Access, UTV also provide a number of other services including Web design, Web Hosting, and Domain Registration.

The rebrand was not without controversy as SMG plc ( owner of Scottish Television and Grampian Television ), UTV and Channel Television all pointed out that the ITV brand did not belong solely to Carlton and Granada.

However, as TV3 were trying to convince Irish cable and MMDS carriers to replace UTV with their channel, the new shareholders pulled out in 1995.

By early 2003, the network and local celebrity idents were phased out, and a generic ident showing the UTV logo on an animated blue background was used in all junctions.

In July 2005 The Wireless Group was bought out by UTV.

On 5 March 2012, UTV Media announced it had signed new network arrangements for the provision of Channel 3 programmes and services with ITV plc.

On March 20th, 2009, UTV Radio announced Valleys Radio was to be sold or shut down within the next 4 weeks.

On 31 March 2010, UTV purchased Ostrich Media to form a new division to be known as UTV Interactive.

A feature of Romanian Television after 2000 was the boom of specialized channels-such as soap opera and telenovela channels ( Acasă TV, Romantica, Antena 4-Euforia lifestyle TV ), sport channels ( such as Sport. ro and Telesport ), talk channels ( Antena 2 ) news channels ( Realitatea TV, Antena 3 and N24 ), different movie genres or documentary types, and even specializing on different musical styles ( UTV Romania and MTV being geared toward club, dance and hip-hop music, whereas Favorit TV and Etno TV towards folklore, and Taraf TV towards manele ).

* 2000 On 1 July 2000, the day when programme presentation and commercials shown on the four main UK television channels switched from the 4: 3 aspect ratio to 14: 9 on analogue broadcasts and 16: 9 on digital broadcasts, UTV introduced a new set of idents using footage from the 1996 " landscape " idents, the break filler films used on its short-lived sister channel TV You, and a UTV corporate advertisement where a shoal of fish grouped together to form the UTV logo.

The Wave's current jingle set is provided by Music 4, who also produce the jingles for the rest of the UTV Network and provided the imaging for The Wave in June 2000.

On 19 December 2007 it was announced that UTV Media had agreed to purchase FM104, subject to approval from the BCI and the Competition Authority.

During his nine years with the company, it was awarded four licences and made the purchase of: Scot FM from the Wireless Group ; JAZZ FM ; Paisley ’ s Q96 from UTV ; the two Century FM stations from GCap ; and four Saga Radio stations.

SMG and UTV initially refused to carry the advertising campaign for ITV Digital and did not allow the ITV Sports Channel space on their multiplex, meaning that it was not available at launch in most of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

As a reliable, safe and affordable ( dollar per horsepower ) option to increase the performance of cars, truck, boats, motorcycles and UTV ’ s, centrifugal supercharging has become a viable option for performance enthusiasts in a variety of applications.

An award-winning UTV Counterpoint programme on the scandal by journalist Chris Moore, followed by a book, accused the head of the Norbertines and the Archbishop of Armagh of mishandling the case, and the Norbertines of negligence and a failure to tell others of Smyth's crimes, enabling Smyth to sexually abuse large numbers of children for 40 years.

The company invested shares in various ITV companies and media firms, including a 25 % stake in GMTV as part of a consortium for Breakfast franchise ( sold off to ITV plc in 2004 for £ 31 million ), ITN and UTV.

The provision of 100 % foreign direct investment has made the Indian film market attractive for foreign enterprises such as 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures, Walt Disney Pictures and Warner Bros. Indian enterprises such as Zee, UTV, Suresh Productions, Adlabs and Sun Network's Sun Pictures also participated in producing and distributing films.

At this stage, an agreement was made to sell 49 % of the company to UTV, the ITV franchise in Northern Ireland, to raise much-needed cash for investment in facilities.

Because of this, a great deal of local controversy surrounds this process and the many plans put forward by the council and developers for the land ( see External links ), in November 2009, it was voted by UTV viewers as Ulster's Biggest Eyesore.

Barbara Paterson, a local woman living with a view of the town's harbour, was interviewed in her home by UTV for saving another womans life who drove their car into the sea and would have otherwise drowned without assistance.

Scott Taunton was previously the Business Development Director at UTV, responsible for radio and new media.

It is the licensee for the major British ITV television network in Northern Ireland and is operated by UTV Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of UTV Media plc.

The following evening, UTV contributed a play to the Armchair Theatre series, A Shilling for the Evil Day, produced in association with ABC Television.

In a further change in October 2007, UTV underwent a corporate reorganisation which saw UTV shareholders swap their shares for shares in a new holding company, UTV Media plc, which took over UTV plc's shareholdings in the new media and radio subsidiaries.

UTV Ltd .-the original Ulster Television Limited, now a wholly owned subsidiary of UTV Media-has returned to being solely the operating company for the ITV franchise.

Currently UTV's acquisition and presentation infrastructure is SD only ; all HD content is line-fed to UTV in Belfast from Technicolor Network Services ' transmission facility at Chiswick Park, with UTV's presentation and local content being upscaled and switched into the transmission chain for UTV HD using a simple A / B switcher.

On 4 January 2011, Freeview announced details for the launch of ITV1 + 1, together with the possibility that both STV and UTV will launch their own timeshift services, STV + 1 and UTV + 1 in Scotland and Northern Ireland respectively.

In September 2003, Forever Broadcasting sold Liverpool's Juice 107. 6FM to Absolute Radio ( UK ) Limited ( AR-UK ), a consortium made up of Ulster Television ( UTV ) and Eurocast, for £ 3. 1m.

It is open to all independent producers provided they get a free to air or community broadcaster's backing, including TV3, Today FM, BBC Northern Ireland, RTÉ, Channel 4, UTV etc.

* In the United Kingdom, versions of Password were produced by BBC2 in 1973, then by BBC1 from 1975 – 76, then by Thames Television for Channel 4 from 1982 – 83, and then by UTV for ITV from 1987 – 88.

In some areas, this is accompanied by PAL simulcasts of five of these channels ( BBC One, BBC Two, ITV1 / UTV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 ), although the last of these broadcasts are due to be shut down on October 24, 2012.

The station, launched in 1974 as the first of its kind in Wales, is owned and operated by UTV Radio alongside its sister station, 96. 4 The Wave.

UTV broadcasts the radio station throughout Northern Ireland on its chunk of Freeview's Multiplex 2 ( which it shares with Channel 4 and Teletext ).

The magazine offers detailed programme listings for RTÉ channels, as well as TV3, TG4, 3e, BBC, UTV, and Channel 4, as well as less detailed listings for a number of satellite channels.

Until 1991 only RTÉ programme listings were carried, but following UK listings magazines deregulation, the magazine began carrying BBC, UTV and Channel 4 listings also.

It provides an analogue cable television service ( with a very high take up in its areas passed ), which provides the Irish terrestrial channels, plus BBC One, BBC Two, UTV, Channel 4, Sky1 and a small number of other channels.
