Kirk previously stated his crew was due to stand down in three months, while Spock noted this would be his last voyage on the Enterprise as a member of her crew ; and Captain Kirk states the ship " will become the care of another crew ," but no further information is given.

Overview: Lt. Uhura, Nurse Chapel and the Enterpriae women must take charge of the ship and rescue Captain Kirk and his landing party held on an alien world.

Kirk then orders Nomad to repair Uhura, which it claims it cannot do since it has erased her " knowledge banks.

The next planet in line is Deneva, and Captain Kirk has Communications Officer Lt. Uhura open a hailing frequency on a private transmitter.

Captain James T. Kirk, Communications Officer Lt. Uhura and navigator Ensign Pavel Chekov step into the ship's transporter to beam down, but they vanish before the transporter can be activated.

Cut from the episode was a scene in the ship's recreation room, where Kirk, McCoy, Uhura and Spock meet and discuss how to calm Elaan.

Later the Platonians then use their powers to force two other Enterprise officers to the planet for their entertainment: Communications Officer Lt. Uhura and Nurse Chapel.
