On 12 July 1950, the Knesset passed a law making MDA's status as Israel's national emergency service official ; The objectives of Magen David include maintaining first aid services ; maintaining a storage service of blood, plasma and their by-products ; instruction in first aid and pre-hospital emergency medicine ; operating a volunteer program in which volunteers are trained in first aid, basic and advanced life support including Mobile Intensive Care Units ; transportation of patients, women in labor, and evacuation of those wounded and killed in road accidents ; transportation of doctors, nurses and medical auxiliary forces.

These volunteers were organized into Combat Swimmer Reconnaissance Units, becoming the Navy UDTs.

Units were also reinforced with “ volunteers ” drafted from amongst soviet POWs at nearby Nazi concentration camps.

Each local chapter ( Ortsverband ) maintains one or more Technische Züge ( technical platoons ), each consisting of one Zugtrupp ( command squad ), comprising four volunteers, two Bergungsgruppen ( rescue units ) comprising nine ( first unit ) to twelve ( second unit ) volunteers, and one to three Fachgruppen ( Technical Units ), comprising four to eighteen volunteers.

The International System of Units ( SI ) specifies a set of seven base units from which all other units of measurement are formed, by products of the powers of base units.

Prior to the 2005 restructure, the reserve forces of the Irish Army were known as the Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil ( Local Defence Force ), which in turn has its origins in the Units formed in 1920s.

At the end of 1943, sixteen ( 16 ) Cadet Units were formed in Secondary and Technical schools.

Units of the Third Canadian Division participated in the earliest battles on the far side of the Rhine, with units of the Second Canadian Division crossing over after the bridgehead was formed.

Units are limited in the equipment they can carry by the physical abilities of their chassis, represented by " Weight " and " Space " restrictions ; each piece of equipment adds to both totals, and cannot exceed the displayed maximums.

Units within the game have a limited number of movement points, which are replenished at the beginning of each turn.

Units in the Reserves may take a march, but they may not maneuver a terrain and are limited to attempting friendly magic ( they cannot target an opposing army or affect a terrain ).

Some IRR personnel who are not currently assigned to SELRES billets, typically senior commissioned officers in the ranks of commander or captain for whom SELRES billets are limited, will serve in Volunteer Training Units ( VTU ) or will be support assigned to established active duty or reserve commands while in a VTU status.
