The Samara was often sold under other names as well, in particular the VAZ 21099 ( Samara Sedan ), which was sold as the " Sagona " ( France ), " Diva " ( Belgium ), " Forma " ( Germany ) and " Sable " ( Australia ).

This was followed by the introduction of the VAZ 21099 saloon version 15 months later.

** 4-door sedan ( VAZ 21099 )

As of 2006, there are four versions of Oka distributed: basic VAZ 11113 Oka made by either ZMA ( Naberezhnye Chelny ) or SeAZ factory ( 33 hp, max, 3. 2 litres per 100 km ), " custom " VAZ 11301 Astro ( 49 hp ) and VAZ 11113-27 Toyma-commercial use subcompact with a cargo compartment instead of two rear seats.

In 1974, when VAZ 2121 development was almost finished, the engineers from Tolyatti began working on an amphibian off-roader, VAZ 2122 ' Reka ' (' River ') based on VAZ-2121 ' Niva ' underpinnings.

The Samara 2, a lightly facelifted version with a fuel-injected version of the 1, 499 cc engine and a better gearbox, went on sale in limited numbers as the 2115 ( four-door sedan ) in 1997, built at the VAZ " special vehicles " unit.

In January 2007, an upgraded Samara 2, using the modern 1. 6-litre VAZ-11183-20 engine first seen in the VAZ 2110 went on sale.

VAZ-2122 received very positive feedback, by 1987 VAZ had finished all development work, and the car was ready for production.

By 2000s ( decade ), the VAZ designation was dropped from market names in favour of Lada and simplified export naming conventions were adopted, so VAZ-2104 effectively became Lada 2104, VAZ-2110 became Lada 110, VAZ-2114 became Lada Samara hatchback or Lada 114 and so on, though model indices continue to be used in both technical and marketing materials.

In 2004 VAZ also introduced Lada 2113, a restyled version of Lada 2108, but this car has never used much popularity, as the Lada 2108 was only popular for a short time.

CKD kits of Daewoo Lanos started assembling the same year in Illichivsk ; at the same time, CKD assembly of a number of older VAZ models started.
