Ambassador-at-Large Averell Harriman has returned to the capital with a collection of paintings that include Renoir, Cezanne, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec, Degas, Matisse, Picasso, and Walt Kuhn.

Everybody had heard of Van Gogh, the French impressionist.

According to Pissarro ’ s son Lucien, his father was impressed by Van Gogh ’ s work and had “ foreseen the power of this artist ”, who was 23 years younger.
