Another famous penny dreadful of this era was the anonymously authored Varney the Vampire ( 1847 ).

An important later example of 19th century Vampire fiction is the penny dreadful epic Varney the Vampire ( 1847 ) featuring Sir Francis Varney as the Vampire.

Varney Airlines began operating out of Boise in 1933, later merging with National Air Transport to become United Airlines.
