All social activity of the people was centered at Kalina Village which was connected to Vakola by a small road skirting the Rye Hills which now houses the Military Camp.

Rye Neck High School is a public secondary school located in the Village of Mamaroneck, New York within the Town of Rye, New York.

In 2000, the United States Environmental Protection Agency declared a area including parts of Centredale Manor and Brook Village, both affordable housing units for senior citizens, a superfund site.

Other schools in the Village of Wilde Lake include Bryant Woods, Running Brook, and Faulkner Ridge elementary schools, and Wilde Lake Middle School.

The water driven mills that flourished at Turvin, Marshaw Village ( by the Hinchliffe Arms pub ) and on Elphin Brook ( down Cragg Vale ) posed no real threat to local farm based weavers at that time.

Police and Village residents had a few altercations, as both groups antagonized each other.

Further shakeups in 2010 would include Mayor Towers appointee as Chief of Police Frank Martin, who would have the shortest tenure as Police Chief in Village history of some 5 months on the job.

The Village Board of Trustees hires the Village Manager ( according to ordinance re-establishing the position in 2011 ), Treasurer, Police Chief, Fire Chief, Public Works Superintendent, other Village Department Heads and members of Committees and Commissions with the " advice and consent " of the Village Board of Trustees.

The four main departments in the Village are Administration / Finance, Development Services, Public Works, and the Police Department.

Other important staff include, Director of Administration Jennifer Chernak, Village Clerk Rita McMahon, Chief of Police John Perkins, Public Works Director Jim Schwartz and Village Attorney Mike Coppedge.

A large building, the new Municipal Complex houses all functions of the Village including the Village Hall, Police Department, Public Works, and Board Room.

The Village is served by the 33-member Huntley Police Department, which is responsible for ensuring the safety of people in the Village and upholding and enforcing the laws of the community.

The Police Department in the Village of Joppa is headed by John Barr, Chief of Police.

In addition to the Planning and Inspections Department, HSV also has an Architectural Control Committee whose responsibility is to ensure that all building plans conform to architectural policy and building codes of the Village and to issue permits for new homes, landscaping, and remodeling.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department serves Yucaipa — including the nearby unincorporated towns of Mentone, Oak Glen, Forest Falls, Angeleus Oaks, and Mountain Home Village — from its regional station at 34282 Yucaipa Boulevard.

Fire and Emergency Medical Services to the Village of Sea Ranch Lakes are provided by the Pompano Beach Fire Department from Station 11 under contract.

From the early days of the village, Hodgkins maintained its own fire fighting capabilities, going from an organized bucket brigade that assembled at the ringing of the large bell aptop the original wood frame Village Hall at the turn of the 20th century, to a Volunteer Fire Department with two full-time firefighters augmented by other volunteers who manned three fire engines.

Oak Park is home to a park district, first organized in 1912 as the Recreation Department of the Village of Oak Park.

In 1908, Village Ordinance # 21 created a North Aurora Village Fire Department and a charter was given to that effect.

In 1938, the Village Mayor, James A. Sanders and the Board of Trustees passed a Resolution commending the " Fire Marshall ", John M. Frieders and the members of the Fire Department for their " aggressive " efforts in obtaining funds for the purchase of new equipment to be used by the Fire Department.

The Village of Joppa has a volunteer Fire Department that is headed by Fire Chief Daniel McHaney.
