The main theme has a distinct 1960s feel to it and is known to be a highly complex piece of music due to the quick playing of the Violin.

In 2008 Little released a three-track recording, The Naked Violin, as a free download from her website in a move aimed at making classical music more accessible.

There were, of course, some concerti grossi that remained, the most famous of which being Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante for Violin and Viola in E flat Major.

Of these pieces Payne highlights two: the Violin Concerto ( 1916 ), as an example of how, writing in unfamiliar genres, Delius remained stylistically true to himself ; and the Cello Sonata of 1917 which, lacking the familiarity of an orchestral palate, becomes a melodic triumph.

Dodd has had many recording hits, charting on nineteen occasions in the UK Top 40, including his first single " Love Is Like a Violin " ( 1960 ), produced on Decca Records by Alex Wharton, which charted at number 8 ( UK ), and his song " Tears " ( Columbia ), which topped the UK charts for five weeks in 1965, selling over a million copies.
