During the DoD reform initiatives of the past two decades, WHS has become the agency of choice for DoD-wide support functions and its worldwide mission continues to evolve.

While Westport High School does not have its own football team, students from WHS often go to Bishop Connolly High School in Fall River and play football, girls soccer, boys lacrosse, and track ( boys and girls ).

The Tiger Swing band begins every home football game with the traditional hometown songs of Massillon Will Shine, Stand Up and Cheer ( to acknowledge the other team ), the National Anthem, Eye of the Tiger and the WHS Alma Mater.

WHS sponsors interscholastic sports and co-curricular activities including student government, service organizations, broadcast journalism, yearbook, marching band, drill team, pep squad.

Washington Headquarters Services ( WHS ) was established as a U. S. Department of Defense ( DoD ) Field Activity on October 1, 1977 as part of a DoD headquarters streamlining initiative.
