Westbound trains would have had separate platforms at the lower level with the routes merging at a junction west of the station.

As usual on the Piccadilly Line, the platforms are labelled Westbound and Eastbound.

In addition, the original platforms ; A ( East-bound ), B ( West-bound ), C and D ( South-bound ), were renamed to C ( Eastbound to Pasir Ris ), F ( Westbound to Joo Koon ), D and E ( Southbound to Marina Bay ) respectively, with the new platforms being named A ( Peak-hour Southbound train service on the former Branch line or North South line to Marina Bay ) and B ( Eastbound train services to Pasir Ris and Changi Airport via Tanah Merah interchange ).

Until 2010, this station had staggered side platforms ; the Westbound platform has temporarily merged with the Eastbound while major renovations to the former take place.
