The Western League began play in April 1894 with teams in Detroit ( the only league team that has not moved since ), Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Sioux City and Toledo.

The team began as the minor league Sioux City Cornhuskers and played in the Western League.

All of Nebraska lies within Central Region, except for Sioux, Scotts Bluff, Banner, Kimball, Cheyenne, Dawes, Box Butte, Morrill, Cheyenne, Sheridan, Garden, Deuel and Grant counties, as part of Western Region.

She played Sioux melodies on the violin and Hanson transcribed them into Western notes.

As described in Lee Allen's book, The American League Story ( Putnam, 1962 ), the team began as the Sioux City franchise in a minor league called the Western League.
