After the break-up of King Crimson in 1974, various plans for a super group involving bassist John Wetton had been mooted, including the abortive British Bulldog project with Bill Bruford and Rick Wakeman in 1976.

Indeed, Kalodner had once introduced Wetton to Journey's short-lived frontman Robert Fleischman, who had penned such Journey classics " Anytime " and " Wheel in the Sky ," with a view to Fleischman becoming Asia's lead-singer.

Lake left in early 1984 and Asia reunited with Wetton that same year to start work on their next album.

Also in 1987, Wetton played with Phenomena on their Dream Runner album and landed a number one hit in South America with the Phenomena single " Did It All for Love ", also appearing in the related music video.

Asia were also credited with contributing the Giorgio Moroder produced track " Gypsy Soul " to the Sylvester Stallone film soundtrack to Over the Top, although Wetton was the only band member involved.

Wetton and Downes ' attempt to restart the group in 1987 with guitarist Scott Gorham ( formerly of Thin Lizzy ) and drummer Michael Sturgis ( ex-a-ha ) fizzled when they were unable to land a worldwide recording deal.

The original proposition included Dave Kilminster on guitar, who had previously toured and recorded with Wetton.

On 9 May 2006, John Payne, Geoff Downes, John Wetton, Carl Palmer and Steve Howe contractually agreed that John Payne could continue his 15 year period with Asia as Asia Featuring John Payne.

Asia's set included only " An Extraordinary Life " from Phoenix, the rest of the songs coming from the first two albums plus one cover each from The Buggles (" Video Killed the Radio Star " with Wetton on lead vocals and Downes on vocoder ), King Crimson (" The Court of the Crimson King ", which was recorded by a previous incarnation of that band with Greg Lake on lead vocals ) and Emerson, Lake & Palmer (" Fanfare for the Common Man ").

John Wetton ( ex-Family and King Crimson ) joined the band and with him Return to Fantasy was recorded ; representing a revitalized Uriah Heep, it soared up to No. 7 in the UK.

Confirmed to be working on the album with Shatner are Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society, Peter Frampton, Brian May of Queen, Steve Howe from Yes, John Wetton from King Crimson and Asia, Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple, Alan Parsons, Bootsy Collins of Parliament-Funkadelic, country star Brad Paisley, and other famous popular musicians.

Over the years Geffen Records / DGC has become well known as a label, releasing works by the likes of Olivia Newton-John, Asia with Steve Howe and John Wetton, Elton John, Cher, Sonic Youth, Aerosmith, XTC, Peter Gabriel, Lone Justice, Blink-182, Guns N ' Roses, Nirvana, Lifehouse, Pat Metheny, Sloan, The Stone Roses and Neil Young.

Shortly afterwards, Bruford formed the progressive rock supergroup U. K. with keyboardist / violinist Eddie Jobson and bassist John Wetton.

Both Horn and Downes have performed the song live in other acts, including Yes ( which Downes and Horn joined for the Drama album and tour in 1980 ), Downes in the 2006 – 2009 revival of Asia with John Wetton on lead vocals, and Horn in his band The Producers, also in 2006.

Three performances in Poland ( in the cities of Krakow, Warsaw, and Bydgoszcz ) saw Jobson reunited with former Roxy Music and UK bandmate, John Wetton, for what was termed " The 30th Anniversary of UK.

In early 2012, Jobson confirmed that he re-formed the U. K. trio lineup — Jobson, John Wetton, and Terry Bozzio -- for a one-off world tour, which took place from from May – June 2012, with the trio playing dates in North America and Japan and Alex Machacek ( guitar ) and Gary Husband ( drums ) substituting for Bozzio in the band lineup during the European dates and a final added show in which the band played at NEARFest Apocalypse in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania as the Sunday headliner.

The manse was built at Wetton, along with a new chapel building.

In 1981, Howe, John Wetton ( King Crimson ), Carl Palmer ( Emerson, Lake & Palmer ), and Geoff Downes ( The Buggles & Yes ) formed the band Asia, but after two popular albums and a few hit singles, Howe left the band over differences with Wetton.

In early 1981, Wetton and former Yes guitarist Steve Howe were brought together by A & R man John Kalodner and Geffen Records to start writing material for a new album.

Meanwhile, Wetton and Downes released some archival Asia material under the name Wetton / Downes and they then reunited to record a full-length album ( Icon, released in 2005 ), and an accompanying EP and DVD.

In mid-2007, all four original members ( Wetton, Downes, Howe and Palmer ) went into the studio to record a new album, marking the first recorded material from all four original members since 1983's Alpha.

Sinfield's debut album, Still, united numerous former ( Greg Lake, Mel Collins, Ian Wallace ) and future ( John Wetton ) Crimson alumni.

This album is the debut of King Crimson's third incarnation, featuring original member and guitarist Robert Fripp and new members John Wetton ( vocals, bass guitar ), David Cross ( violin, Mellotron ), Jamie Muir ( percussion ), and Bill Bruford ( drums ).

In 2006, she appears on the album 2006 Rubicon from Asia band members ' John Wetton and Geoffrey Downes on the tracks " To Catch a Thief " and " Tears of Joy ".

She appears as a guest vocalist on the debut album of The Human Experimente, a project which also features Robert Fripp of King Crimson, John Wetton of Asia and King Crimson, Maynard James Keenan of Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer, Adrian Belew of Frank Zappa, David Bowie, Talking Heads and King Crimson, U-G-O with Sean Kingston, and Dann Pursey of Globus and Vantan.

He also appears on The Tokyo Tapes album released in 1998 which features Steve Hackett and John Wetton amongst many others.

Manzaera's second solo album K-Scope ( 1978 ) was originally intended to be the second 801 studio album, and indeed it featured featured many of the same personnel from Listen Now, including Ainley, Bill and Ian McCormick, John Wetton, Simon Phillips, Mel Collins, Tim and Neil Finn, Eddie Rayner, Godley and Creme, and keyboard player Dave Skinner.

On Phil Manzanera's first solo album Diamond Head ( 1975 ), John Wetton and Doreen sang duo on the track, " Same Time, Next Week ".

The band was labeled a supergroup as it included former members of several veteran progressive rock bands, namely bassist / vocalist John Wetton ( formerly in Mogul Thrash, Family, King Crimson, Roxy Music, Uriah Heep, U. K. and Wishbone Ash ), guitarist Steve Howe ( formerly, and subsequently in Yes ), keyboardist Geoff Downes ( of Yes and The Buggles ) and drummer Carl Palmer ( formerly in The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Atomic Rooster and Emerson, Lake & Palmer ).

In 1977 Bruford and Wetton were reunited in U. K., augmented by guitarist Allan Holdsworth and keyboardist / violinist Eddie Jobson.

A new supergroup project was then suggested involving Wetton, Wakeman, drummer Carl Palmer and ( then little known ) South African guitarist / singer Trevor Rabin, but Wakeman left this project too, shortly before they were due to sign to Geffen and before they had played together.

This made Belew the first guitarist to formally play alongside Fripp within King Crimson on an equal footing ( although both Ian McDonald and John Wetton had very occasionally contributed extra guitar to previous King Crimson recordings ).

The band was composed of singer / bassist John Wetton ( formerly of King Crimson, Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry's band and Uriah Heep ), keyboardist / electric violinist Eddie Jobson ( formerly of Curved Air, Roxy Music and Frank Zappa's band ), guitarist Allan Holdsworth ( formerly of Tempest, Soft Machine, The New Tony Williams Lifetime and Gong ) and drummer Bill Bruford ( formerly of Yes and King Crimson ), later replaced by drummer Terry Bozzio ( formerly of Frank Zappa's band ).

Singer / bassist John Wetton and drummer Bill Bruford had worked together in King Crimson from 1972-4, when guitarist Robert Fripp disbanded the group.

The line-up for this performance will include Jobson and Wetton joined by drummer Gary Husband and guitarist Alex Machacek, which is the European touring configuration for U. K ..
