In 1921 Wicksteed Park, Britain's second oldest theme park, was officially opened on the southern outskirts of the town, and remains popular to this day.

It is home to a wide range of companies including Weetabix, Pegasus Software, RCI Europe, Timsons Ltd and Morrisons Distribution as well as Wicksteed Park, the United Kingdom's oldest theme park, which now plays host to one and a quarter million visitors every season.

Wicksteed Park is an amusement park in Kettering, Northamptonshire, England.

Charles Wicksteed also owned an engineering company ( Wicksteed Park Leisure ) and started to supply park seats and playground equipment to public parks far and wide.

This company today still provides this equipment and can be found in many such parks across Europe with some of the products in Wicksteed Park.

Wicksteed Park was the first Leisure Park in the UK and has been copied many times since.

The park is owned by the Wicksteed Trust, a registered charity set up by Charles Wicksteed in 1916 and run by Wicksteed Park Ltd, a company wholly owned by the Trust.

The Wicksteed Park Railway is one of the most iconic features of the park today.

It was the last feature of the park to be added during the lifetime of the parks founder Charles Wicksteed and is supported by the Friends of the Wicksteed Park Railway.

Flowing east past Desborough and the Eleanor cross at Geddington, through the grounds of Rushton Hall it then turns south and passes Kettering, though Wicksteed Park, past Barton Seagrave and Burton Latimer before joining the Nene just south of Wellingborough.

The town was designed by Canadian Northern's chief engineer, Henry Wicksteed, based loosely on Washington, D. C.

South African film-maker Richard Wicksteed has produced a number of documentaries on San / Bushman culture, history and present situation ; these include " In God's Places / Iindawo ZikaThixo " ( 1995 ) on the Bushman cultural legacy in the southern Drakensberg ; " Death of a Bushman " ( 2002 ) on the murder of Bushman tracker Optel Rooi by South African police ; " The Will To Survive " ( 2009 ) which covers the history and situation of Bushman communities in southern Africa today ; and " My Land is My Dignity " ( 2009 ) on the San's epic land rights struggle in Botswana's Central Kalahari Game Reserve.

It is commonly considered to be bounded on the east by the Don River, on the west by Millwood Road, on the north by Wicksteed Avenue and Research Road, and on the northwest by a railway track between Millwood and Wicksteed.

However, the early 20th century historian Philip Wicksteed stated of Villani, " When dealing with his own times, and with events immediately connected with Florence, he is a trustworthy witness, but minute accuracy is never his strong point ; and in dealing with distant times and places he is hopelessly unreliable.

The Park's beginnings can be traced back to 1913 when Charles Wicksteed purchased a tract of Northamptonshire meadowland near Kettering with the intention of developing a model village.

Upon the death of Charles Wicksteed, the Board of Trustees were determined to continue his good work.

The West Fork Park in Arnoldsburg on U. S. Route 33 hosts the annual Molasses Festival, offers camping and has a walking trail.

Prior offers by the National Park Service and the Trust for Public Land to buy the land were rejected.
