Richard Wigginton Thompson ( June 9, 1809 – February 9, 1900 ) was an American politician.

Samuel Parkes who won the Victoria Cross in the Charge of the Light Brigade was born in Wigginton and baptised at St. Editha's on 24 December 1815.
