Among his works are Ladensium Aὐτοκατάκρισις, an answer to Lysimachus Nicanor by John Corbet in the form of an attack on Laud and his system, in reply to a publication which charged the Covenanters with Jesuitry ; Anabaptism, the true Fountain of Independency, Brownisme, Antinomy, Familisme, etc., a sermon which he criticises the rise of the early Baptist churches in England such as those lead by Thomas Lambe ; An Historical Vindication of the Government of the Church of Scotland ; The Life of William ( Laud ) now Lord Archbishop of Canterbury Examined ( London, 1643 ); A Parallel of the Liturgy with the Mass Book, the Breviary, the Ceremonial and other Romish Rituals ( London, 1661 ).

Radley was founded in 1847 by William Sewell ( 1804 – 79 ) and Robert Corbet Singleton ( 1810 – 81 ).

One of the first ascents took place on December 18 when Pete Schoening, William Long, James Corbet and John Evans reached the summit of Vinson Massif, one of the world's " Seven Summits " and Antarctica's highest mountain.

Walter FitzWalter de Gloucester ( d. 1360 ) had married Petronilla ( or Pernel ), one of the 3 daughters of William Corbet ( born c. 1280 ) of Chaddesley Corbett, Worcs., and Siston, Gloucestershire.

Peter Corbet ( d. 1362 ) was the next younger brother and heir of William Corbet ( who presumably was dead by then and unlike his brother had no male offspring ) and was therefore Petronilla's uncle.

John Corbet had outlived his father William who had a short life, but himself died aged only 17, leaving his triplet William Corbet ( 1353 – 1378 ) his heir, who in turn also died young in 1378 aged only 25.

Alice de Gloucester, widow of Peter de Gloucester, was then still alive and was recorded in the Inquisition post mortem of William Corbet dated 1378 as holding 1 / 3rd dower share of Alveston.

The young William Corbet had become a merchant dealing in the wool-trade as on his death he owed the very great sum of £ 320 for merchandise received to the Bristol merchant and clothier John Canynges ( d. 1405 ), father of the great Bristol merchant William II Canynges ( d. 1474 ).

Young William's own heir was his sister Margaret Corbet ( d. 1398 ), who brought the Corbet manors to her husband William Wyriott ( d. 1379 ) from Pembrokeshire.

Other guests in attendance were Irish rebels James Bartholomew Blackwell, William Corbet and Napper Tandy, also there was the notorious American radical and intellectual Thomas Paine ( who had been invited to attend by Kimaine, then a political fugitive and pseudo-anarchist ).

In reply to this the French sovereign dispatched Andrew as his ambassador to Güyük Khan ; with Longjumeau went his brother William ( also a Dominican ) and several others — John Goderiche, John of Carcassonne, Herbert " Le Sommelier ," Gerbert of Sens, Robert ( a clerk ), a certain William, and an unnamed clerk of Poissy.

His late opera based on William Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor, Falstaff ossia Le tre burle ( Falstaff, or the Three Tricks ), ( 1799 ) has found a wider audience in modern times than its original reception promised.

This was overcome in 1843, when, with the help of William Le Lacheur, a Guernsey merchant and shipowner, a regular trade route was established.

From this time his scientific studies dropped off, but he was a profound influence on the American branches of his two fields, teaching decades worth of future prominent scientists, including Alpheus Hyatt, David Starr Jordan, Joel Asaph Allen, Joseph Le Conte, Ernest Ingersoll, William James, Nathaniel Shaler, Samuel Hubbard Scudder, Alpheus Packard, and his son Alexander Agassiz, among others.

William appointed a Norman to the bishopric of Le Mans in 1065.

William was able to secure the departure of Sweyn and his fleet in 1070, allowing him to return to the continent to deal with troubles in Maine, where the town of Le Mans had revolted in 1069.

With a swift campaign, William seized Le Mans from Fulk's forces, and had finished his campaign by 30 March 1073.

The two made up their differences and William agreed to help Robert recover lands lost to France, notably Le Maine.

This plan was later abandoned, but William continued to pursue a ferociously warlike defence of his French possessions and interests to the end of his life, exemplified by his response to the attempt by Elias de la Flèche, Count of Maine, to take Le Mans in 1099.

William benefited in another way from his campaign in Brittany by securing the support of some Breton nobles who went on to support the invasion of England in 1066.

Whatever Henry said, it was interpreted as a royal command, and four knights, Reginald fitzUrse, Hugh de Morville, William de Tracy, and Richard le Breton, set out to confront the Archbishop of Canterbury.

A town grew up around it, and a Benedictine priory was established around 1075 by Withenoc, a Breton who became lord of Monmouth after Roger, the son of William fitzOsbern, was disgraced.

The most significant incident was the capture of the French Fortress Louisbourg on Cape Breton Island ( Île Royale ) by an expedition ( 29 April – 16 June 1745 ) of colonial militia organized by Massachusetts Governor William Shirley, commanded by William Pepperrell of Maine ( then part of Massachusetts ), and assisted by a Royal Navy fleet.

Richmond was founded in 1071 by the Breton Alan Rufus, on lands granted to him by William the Conqueror.

About this time, Mr Rudkin of Abbots Hall purchased a cottage in Tollesbury and fitted it up for worship, which was served regularly by William Merchant of Layer Breton and Mr. Forster.
