The Bell Witch Cave is a karst cave located in Adams, Tennessee near where the Bell Farm once stood.

Although she is well-meaning, her innocence and unyielding desire to return back home to Kansas result in much trouble for the main character of the book, the Wicked Witch named Elphaba, who didn't seem to know what to make of her, and whom she melts by accident while trying to put out a fire.

Glinda performs the functions of not only the novel's Good Witch of the North and Good Witch of the South, but also the novel's Queen of Field Mice, by being the one who welcomes Dorothy to Oz, sends her " off to see the Wizard ," and orchestrates her rescue from the deadly poppy field in addition to revealing the secret to going back home.

In the original novel, of course, the unnamed Good Witch of the North genuinely believed that the Wizard of Oz was the only entity powerful enough to send Dorothy back home to Kansas, while Glinda the Good Witch ( later " Sorceress ") of the South does not claim to be similarly powerful until the sixth book, The Emerald City of Oz, by which point in time she creates " The Great Book of Records ," which chronicles everything that takes place inside as well as outside Oz.

She gives her the Witch of the East's silver shoes, and tells her not to take them off before she reaches home, for they hold a very powerful charm.

The Wizard sends Dorothy and her party to destroy the Wicked Witch of the West and in exchange promises to grant her request to be sent home.

The African Witch ( 1936 ) did a little better, and the Carys managed to move back into their home.

Initially unbeknownst to everyone, the flower Pop brought home from the Witch World is really the Witch Queen Heart, the Queen's favorite flower, which grants any wish it hears regardless of any possible dangers until it begins to bear seeds.

Munchkinland is also shown to be the native home of Elphaba, or the Wicked Witch of the West, and her younger sister Nessarose ( although in the novel, they grew up in Quadling Country ).
