Worf was at first not intended to be a regular character, since Gene Roddenberry wanted to avoid " retreads of characters or races featured prominently in the original Star Trek series ", and so the June 1, 1987 cast portrait did not include Worf.

She wanted to marry him but Worf refused because he did not want to share his dishonor with her and their son ( TNG: " Reunion ").

The last episode was taped in early 1989 ( but aired that March ), which did not signify an end of any sort, but was played out as a high event-the cast went on a space adventure with guest star Michael Dorn as Lt. Worf, from Star Trek: The Next Generation ( in the episode, " Webtrek ").

As they return to the Klingons ' quarters, Konmel is disappointed that Kunivas did not die in battle, leading Worf to question the nature of the attack on the freighter ; Korris and Konmel quickly change the subject.

After Terran rebels take over Terek Nor, Worf tries to recapture the station but is defeated by the rebels who have a new ship based on the design of the Defiant.

When Data asked Worf to take care of Spot, Worf proved to be allergic to her and sneezed in her face, angering her (" Phantasms ").

( There is precedent for a Starfleet officer to not wear a regulation uniform, however: Deanna Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation only wore regulation uniform during seasons six and seven ( followed by all the movies starring the TNG crew ), while Worf wore a Klingon sash with his uniform throughout his Starfleet career on both U. S. S Enterprises and Deep Space Nine but these series take place in later centuries than Star Trek: Enterprise ).

Lt. Worf, in the meantime, thinks that the Captain is being tested as a warrior and advocates an aggressive stance which Riker says he will take as a last option.

Riker has Worf take a shuttlecraft to try to retrieve the Captain which fails when the aliens disable the craft and force it to return to the Enterprise.

Nikolai further assuages Worf by telling him that he is going to finally take responsibility by staying with his intended wife and the villagers and make his home with them as the new village chronicler.

As he is then required to by tradition, Worf starts the Klingon vow of marriage, by shouting " tlhIngan jIH " ( Klingon for " I am a Klingon "), but K ' Ehleyr refuses to take the vow and storms out.

Before departing, she admits to Worf that she was tempted to take the marriage vow with him and implies that their paths will cross again.

Picard and Worf race to Engineering, and Worf tries to reason with Korris who is threatening to destroy the warp core and take the Enterprise with him.

( After Worf escorts Data to his quarters, he asks a personal favor: for Worf to take Data's cat, Spot, to Worf's quarters for safekeeping.

Worf also has a human brother, Nikolai, through his adoption by the Rozhenkos, with whom he often quarreled.

In 1995, with TNG over, the writers of DS9 came up with the idea of adding Worf to the cast in response to pressure to boost ratings .< ref name =" charting "> Source: " Charting New Territory ".

A grateful Martok would later invite Worf ( who had earlier been stripped of his family name by Gowron ) to join Martok's house.

Meanwhile, Worf requests a leave of absence to visit his brother, Kurn, who controls a small fleet of Birds of Prey, and to urge him to back Gowron, as, once installed as the Leader, Gowron can reinstate their family name.

Gowron returns to his ship to meet with Worf, who offers his brother's fleet's support in exchange for the return of his family name to honor.

Kurn tells Worf that their father Mogh is being charged posthumously as a traitor by Duras, the son of Mogh's rival, in the Khitomer massacre, which will mar the Mogh family name for generations.

When Worf and Riker use the tractor beam to bring it into the shuttlebay, they find it has the same name and registry as an Enterprise shuttle.

Worf was the only character to be a regular in more than one live-action Star Trek series ( While Miles O ' Brien was featured in both The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, he was not a regular cast member in the former series ).

Several " tall, slim, black actors " auditioned for Worf before Michael Dorn came along, walking into the audition in character and not smiling ( Indeed, Michael Dorn found the seriousness of the role, especially during the audition, at first to be uncomfortable, since he considers himself a comedian at heart ).

When they and the Enterprise crew discovered that it was in fact Duras ' father that betrayed the Empire, Worf, realizing that the powerful House of Duras could not be publicly shamed without throwing the Empire into civil war, accepted a ritual discommendation from the Klingon High Council.

In 2369 while the Enterprise was at Deep Space Nine, Worf investigated a claim that his father might still be alive in a Romulan prison camp.

Worf avoided romantic attachments with non-Klingons during his first few years on board the Enterprise-D. As Worf explained to both Riker and Guinan, he felt that non-Klingon females would be too fragile, and that he would have to restrain himself too much.

She was the first non-Klingon that Worf could " physically " be with in the traditional Klingon way.

He asked Worf to be his first officer.

After Worf joined Martok's house, his son Alexander would be inducted into the house, as would Jadzia Dax, when she married Worf ( the latter was initially opposed by Sirella ).

It was later revealed by Benjamin Sisko, Worf, Miles O ' Brien and Odo that it was the Klingons themselves who unknowingly had a Changeling in their midst, pretending to be General Martok.

Worf appears at first to be oblivious to this attention, and in the fifth-season episode " Looking for par ' Mach in All the Wrong Places " he becomes enamored with a female Klingon named Grilka.

During the occasional battle with an enemy ship, control of the tactical console can be delegated to Lt. Worf, or controlled by the player.

Despite this, Gowron journeys to the station, hoping to get Worf to argue on behalf of the Klingons, even though Worf believes Gowron to be wrong.

Gowron angrily warns him that if Worf turns his back on him, he will reinstate the discommendation and that not even Worf's brother Kurn will be spared.

The Defiant is left severely damaged and adrift but the Enterprises crew assure Worf that it can be salvaged.

Although never confirmed on screen, the character of Colonel Worf was intended to be the grandfather of Star Trek: The Next Generations Worf.

This retcon itself was later retconned, in Star Trek: Enterprise, via a storyline in which it is revealed that the original, quasi-human appearance of the Klingons is due to a genetic mutation caused by an engineered virus – as it happened, " genetic engineering " ( Chief O ' Brien ) and " viral mutation " ( Dr. Bashir ) had been the guesses Worf refused to confirm or deny.

Worf, played by Michael Dorn, is a main character in Star Trek: The Next Generation and in seasons four to seven of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

In Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Worf's grandfather Colonel Worf ( also portrayed by Michael Dorn ) appears in a role as the legal advocate of Captain James T. Kirk and Dr. Leonard McCoy after they are accused of killing Chancellor Gorkon of the Klingon High Council.

Although Worf was raised by humans, he considered himself a Klingon at heart and studied the ways of his people.

He then revealed his true identity, informing Worf that Duras accused their father of betraying the Klingon Empire by helping the Romulans attack Khitomer.

K ' Ehleyr was eventually murdered by Duras when she found evidence of his involvement in the effort to discredit Worf.

Worf learned that the Klingons were planning to invade Cardassia because of a coup which they had been led to believe was engineered by the Dominion.

While on a mission to the Gamma Quadrant, Worf was captured and sent to a prison camp where he met the real General Martok and was reunited with the real Dr. Bashir, who had both been captured and replaced by changelings.

Though Worf is initially estranged by his now adult son, and skeptical of his son's desire to serve the Empire, he eventually reconciles with him and his son joins the House of Martok.

The informant is subsequently executed by the Dominion, causing Captain Benjamin Sisko, the commander of Deep Space Nine, to caution that Starfleet might not grant Worf his own command after this incident, but adds that had he been forced to choose between his duty and his wife, he would have done the same thing.

By late 2374, Worf and Jadzia are married less than a year when they decided to try to have a child despite the extreme difficulties posed by the disparate biologies of Trill and Klingons.

After a brief battle, Worf killed Gowron ; by right he was proclaimed the new chancellor of the Klingon High Council.

They follow Klingon customs as first taught to them by Worf ( DS9: " Children of Time ").

Already prepared for such a tactic, Nero succeeds in surprising Worf by impaling him through the back with a large mechanical tentacle.

The Enterprise arrives in time to save the crew of the USS Defiant which is being commanded by Lieutenant Commander Worf.

This is most definitively demonstrated in Star Trek: Insurrection where Picard and Worf distract an erratically behaving Data by singing two parts of A British Tar, compelling Data to sing the third part.

More recently, in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation, the crew is sometimes seen playing five-card stud, often an officer's game hosted by Commander William Riker and usually entered by Data ( as part of his efforts to become more human ), Worf, Geordi LaForge, Dr Beverley Crusher, Deanna Troi and occasionally by other crewmembers.
