John Wyndham Parkes Lucas Beynon Harris ( 10 July 1903 – 11 March 1969 ) was an English science fiction writer who usually used the pen name John Wyndham, although he also used other combinations of his names, such as John Beynon and Lucas Parkes.

Wyndham was born in the village of Knowle in Warwickshire, England, the son of George Beynon Harris, a barrister, and Gertrude Parkes, the daughter of a Birmingham ironmaster.

That year his novella Boy in Darkness was published beside stories by William Golding and John Wyndham in a volume called Sometime, Never.

The castle itself was deliberately destroyed the following year, while in 1651 Colonel Wyndham made arrangements for Charles II to flee to France following the Battle of Worcester.

Although Wyndham had already published other novels using other pen-name combinations drawn from his lengthy real name, this was the first published under the John Wyndham pen-name.

Wells was also inducted alongside Eric Liddell and Wyndham Halswelle ( two other former Scottish Athletic Olympic Champions ) into the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame.

The blockade of the southern US Atlantic Seaboard, as well as the sack of Washington D. C., carried out during the American War of 1812 was orchestrated from the Admiralty House in Bermuda, then located at Mount Wyndham, in Bailey's Bay.

Turner was also a frequent guest of George O ' Brien Wyndham, 3rd Earl of Egremont at Petworth House in West Sussex and painted scenes that Egremont funded taken from the grounds of the house and of the Sussex countryside, including a view of the Chichester Canal.

Percy Wyndham Lewis ( 18 November 1882 – 7 March 1957 ) was an English painter and author ( he dropped the name ' Percy ', which he disliked ).

However, no less an authority than Walter Sickert once claimed that: ' Wyndham Lewis the greatest portraitist of this or any other time ', though it was left to Lewis to make this statement public.

In 1956 the Tate Gallery held a major exhibition of his work, " Wyndham Lewis and Vorticism ," in the catalogue to which he declared that " Vorticism, in fact, was what I, personally, did and said at a certain period "— a statement which brought forth a series of " Vortex Pamphlets " from his fellow " BLAST " signatory William Roberts.

A 1956 exhibition at the Tate Gallery was called Wyndham Lewis and Vorticism, highlighting his prominent place in the movement.

Between 1861 and 1862, Terry was engaged by the Royalty Theatre in London, managed by Madame Albina de Rhona, where she acted with W. H. Kendal, Charles Wyndham and other famous actors.

He knew Wyndham Lewis well, also, reviewing his work in The Egoist at this time, hanging a Lewis portfolio around the room and on a similar note of tension between the domestic and the small circle of London modernists regretting having lent Lewis his razor when the latter announced with hindsight a venereal infection.

British history might have been very different had his wife, Lady ( Crystabella ) Wyndham, been a little more accurate with a musket shot that missed Cromwell but killed his aide de camp.

She had a friendship with an elderly woman named Lydia Wyndham, whom she found when doing research about World War I.

He went on to co-found the Vorticists with his friend, the painter and writer Wyndham Lewis.

It has since become a vacation destination with a section of the island recently purchased by Wyndham Resorts.

As the junior partner at Cape, he had to handle their difficult authors including Robert Graves, Wyndham Lewis and Arthur Ransome, the last being seen as difficult because of his wife Genia, with her " distrustfulness, venom and guile ".

In middle age Balfour had a forty-year long friendship with Mary Charteris ( née Wyndham ), Lady Elcho, later Countess of Wemyss and March.

The Vorticism group began with the Rebel Art Centre which Wyndham Lewis and others established after disagreeing with Omega Workshops founder Roger Fry, and has roots in the Bloomsbury Group, Cubism, and Futurism.

Firstly the Anglican St Peter's with its tall spire in the centre of Georgian style Wyndham Square.

Victoria Wyndham ( born May 22, 1945 ) is an American actress best known for her role as Rachel Cory on the soap opera Another World.

Wyndham first started her acting career as understudy in the role of Hodel in the Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof.
