President Francis Xavier Kennedy is elected to office, in large part, thanks to the legacy of his forebears – good looks, privilege, wealth – and is the very embodiment of youthful optimism.

As Sebastian Shaw and Gambit destroy Sinister's Cronus Machine, the device that he used to transfer his consciousness into new hosts, Xavier drives Sinister out of his body permanently.

As Shaw prepares to deliver a killing blow to Xavier, Wolverine recovers and stops him telling Xavier to rescue his son.

Meanwhile Wolverine defeats Shaw and enters the mansion to find Daken standing over an unconscious Xavier preparing to kill him.

As the three converse Daken returns to the physical plane and prevents Shaw from killing Xavier.

In an alternative world where Professor Xavier and Magneto's roads did not separate, Sage was found by both men, and was never sent to spy on Sebastian Shaw in the Hellfire Club.

In the past Sinister had worked here ( disguised as a Dr Milbury ) alongside Brian Xavier, Kurt Marko and Irene Adler who had been gathered for him by Jacob Shaw, Sebastian's father, as they all had the X-gene and Sinister predicted their children would be mutants.

Shaw travelled to New Mexico to visit another of the children to confirm his theory, running into Xavier and Gambit who were investigating a hitlist with the children's names on it.

Xavier is captured and Gambit and Shaw team up to save Xavier.

Sinister in Xavier's body stops Mueller but is in turn confronted by Shaw and Gambit who destroy the Cronus device while Xavier casts Sinister out of his mind.

Shaw also attempts to kill Xavier but is stopped by Daken.

However, the combined efforts of Sebastian Shaw and Gambit destroys the machine, enabling Xavier to successfully drive Sinister's consciousness from his mind and body.

In this film, she is able to completely block Xavier from using his telepathy on her and Shaw, create illusions, perform mental torture, as well as sense the initial activation of Cerebro from thousands of miles away.

It is used by Xavier to find and recruit mutants for training in order to oppose Sebastian Shaw.

However, Xavier begins to suffer terrible headaches, and he and Gambit decide to wait it out in the desert for a few hours, where they are once again attacked by the Assassins Guild.

When Gambit and Xavier make it over the plains, they find a completely mismatched landscape.

Gambit finds it hard to control his emotions seeing Rogue in so much pain, but Xavier reminds him that none of it is real.

While in the Genosha prison cells, Gambit and Xavier find the Shi ' ar parts hunters and they are told what is happening.

Eventually Xavier, Gambit and a group of Shi ' ar pirates manage to shut down Danger.

However, the Professor reactivates her and she defeats the pirates in turn when they attack Gambit and Xavier.

As of issue # 250 Gambit has joined the team of Legion, Rogue, Magneto, Frenzy and Xavier, in search of Legions lost personalities that would not cooperate with him after his troubles in the AOX.

Later on in the series, Gambit and the team ( minus Magneto, Legion, and Xavier ) travel to the Jean Grey High School of Higher Learning to become teachers and mentors of the school.

The Brotherhood become temporary do-gooders, Wolverine's teenage girl clone X-23 returns, Spyke and the Morlocks rise to the surface, Shadowcat discovers a mutant ghost, Rogue is kidnapped by Gambit and taken to Louisiana to help free his father, and Xavier travels to Scotland in order to confront his son Lucas.

This is seemingly part of a three pronged plan, alongside Gambit and Sunfire in Providence who attack Cable, and Exodus with his new group of Acolytes who ambush the Xavier Institute while only Kitty Pryde, Colossus, and the New X-Men are home.

Charles ' search for more mutants is interrupted by the Hulk, who was sent into extraterrestal exile by the Illuminati, a group of powerful superbeings to which Xavier belongs.

But in reality, Xavier is still battling Sinister for control of his body.

Afterwards, Xavier leaves the ruins of the X-Mansion to secretly meet up Cyclops by psychically coercing his former student for the visit.

Xavier attempts to have Scott give him permission to scan Scott's mind for traces of Sinister's influences, but instead Scott turns the tables on Xavier by revealing that he has secretly invited Emma Frost into their entire meeting and also into Xavier's mind.

Just as everything appears to be under the Juggernaut's control Xavier reappears and informs him that everything that has just taken place except for Juggernaut destroying the bar took place in Cain's mind.

Following his encounter with Cain it has been revealed that Xavier is now searching for Rogue.

As the two search for Daken, Wolverine reveals that when he first joined the X-Men he attempted to assassinate Xavier due to some unknown programming.

Xavier then explains to Wolverine and Daken that Romulus is solely responsible for Itsu's death and that he lied to Daken about everything because he wanted Wolverine to become his weapon.

As the two depart Wolverine tells Xavier that he forgives him for all of the dark moments in their history.

The real Xavier is shown in prison on Alcatraz and slowly being stripped of his telepathic powers while in psionic contact with Beast, who was arrested earlier for his part in the anti-mutant riots.

To that end, he has kept Xavier out of the field and instead relied on Emma Frost, Psylocke and the Stepford Cuckoos respectively for their own psionic talents.
