Fayray was discovered by then-producer Hiroshi Ōsaki, now vice-president of Yoshimoto Kogyo, and landed a recording contract with the now-defunct Antinos Records label.

Yoshimoto is said to be almost single-handedly responsible for the development of Japanese manzai after World War II and, in fact, the kanji that are now used for the word manzai were introduced by Yoshimoto in 1933, spelling a new era for the comedy style.

Indeed, afterwards Yoshimoto did become more politically conservative, becoming a supporter of Ichirō Ozawa.

He became one of Nobunaga's sandal-bearers and was present at the Battle of Okehazama in 1560 when Nobunaga defeated Imagawa Yoshimoto to become one of the most powerful warlords in the Sengoku period.

Yoshimoto Kogyo is the owner of a number of corporate offices and stages, most situated in the downtown areas of Osaka and Tokyo.

He is one of the popular duo ( kombi ) Ninety-nine with Takashi Okamura, who are one of Yoshimoto Kogyo's most successful acts.

Her father is the famous poet and critic Takaaki Yoshimoto, and her sister, Haruno Yoiko, is a well-known cartoonist in Japan.

As a result of their massive popularity and the relative domination of their employer, Yoshimoto Kogyo, the Kansai dialect ( in which both performers usually speak ) has come to be associated with Japanese comedy ( owarai ) as a whole.

Matsumoto has said that if the duo ever split up, they would like to perform their manzai one last time at Namba Grand Kagetsu, Yoshimoto Kogyo's theatre in Osaka and the very stage on which Downtown launched their career.

Since the Taishō period, the manzai form of Japanese comedy has been developed in Osaka, and a large number of Osaka-based comedians have appeared in Japanese media with Osaka dialect ( See also Yoshimoto Kogyo ).

Yoshimoto Kogyo, a large entertainment conglomerate based in Osaka, introduced Osaka-style manzai to Tokyo audiences, and coined the term " 漫才 " ( one of several ways of writing the word manzai in Japanese ; see " etymology " below ) in 1933.

With the end of the Taishō period, Yoshimoto Kōgyō — which itself was founded at the beginning of the era, in 1912 — introduced a new style of manzai lacking much of the celebration that had accompanied it in the past.

Beginning in the 1980s, Yoshimoto published a theory of the masses, The Mass Image, and particular a theory of the city in The High Image I-III.

In the latter part of the 1980s, Yoshimoto criticized the anti-nuclear power and anti-nuclear weapons movements started by intellectual advocates of postwar democracy such as Kenzaburo Oe as ' Anti-Nuclear Fascism ".

He traveled all the way to the lands of Imagawa Yoshimoto, daimyo of Suruga Province, and served there for a time, only to abscond with a sum of money entrusted to him by Matsushita Yukitsuna.

In 1548, when the Oda clan invaded Mikawa, Hirotada turned to Imagawa Yoshimoto, the head of the Imagawa clan, for help to repel the invaders.

Yoshimoto agreed to help under the condition that Hirotada send his son Takechiyo to Sumpu as a hostage.

Yoshimoto, leading a large Imagawa army ( perhaps 20, 000 strong ) attacked the Oda clan territory.

As a result, Motoyasu and his men were not present at the Battle of Okehazama where Yoshimoto was killed by Oda Nobunaga's surprise assault.

With Yoshimoto dead, Motoyasu decided to ally with the Oda clan.

As the head of the Oda clan, Nobuhide was involved in open warfare as he was fronted to the north by Saitō Dōsan, daimyo of Mino Province, and to the east by Imagawa Yoshimoto, the daimyo of Mikawa, Suruga, and Tōtōmi provinces.

In contemporary Japan, popular authors such as Ryū Murakami, Haruki Murakami, and Banana Yoshimoto are highly regarded.

He sent Minamoto no Yoritomo ( 1147 – 1199 ), the third son of Minamoto no Yoshimoto of the Seiwa Genji, into exile.

A significant part of the novel Amrita by Japanese author Banana Yoshimoto takes place in Saipan with regular references to the landscape and spirituality of the island.

One attempt to overthrow the bakufu was made in 1560 by Imagawa Yoshimoto, whose march towards the capital came to an ignominious end at the hands of Oda Nobunaga in the Battle of Okehazama.

He travelled to Japan, where he beat Taketeru Yoshimoto by knockout in round one, and he beat future world champion Carlos Morocho Hernández by knockout in round seven, this time back in Venezuela.
