Robin Wayne Zander ( born 23 January 1953 ) is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for the rock band Cheap Trick.

In 1972, Zander was offered the lead singer role in a new band called Cheap Trick by the group's drummer, Bun E. Carlos.

At the time, Zander was under contract with a resort in Wisconsin Dells, where he sang and played cover songs, and Cheap Trick had a lead vocalist, Randy " Xeno " Hogan.

Hogan left the band around the same time Zander's resort contract expired, and Zander joined Cheap Trick as lead singer.

Zander continues to perform with Cheap Trick around the world.

In 1986 she released a solo single from the movie " The Golden Child " called " The Best Man in the World " which reached number sixty-one in the U. S. She also had a hit in 1988-89 called " Surrender to Me " which was a duet with Cheap Trick singer Robin Zander, taken from the film Tequila Sunrise which reached number six in the U. S. singles chart.

Duets were featured on the album, including one with Cheap Trick lead singer Robin Zander and another with Isaac Hayes.

The film's soundtrack spawned the hit single " Surrender to Me ", performed by Ann Wilson ( lead singer of Heart ) and Robin Zander ( lead singer of Cheap Trick ), where it went to # 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1989.

Robin Zander and Rick Nielsen, both of Cheap Trick, also make an appearance on the album.

The band consists of Robin Zander ( vocals, rhythm guitar ), Rick Nielsen ( lead guitar ), Tom Petersson ( bass guitar ), and Bun E. Carlos ( drums ).

He left the band shortly after its formation and was replaced by Robin Zander.

With Robin Zander now on vocals, the band recorded their first official demo in 1975 and played in warehouses, bowling alleys, and various other venues around the midwestern United States.

In 1974, Hogan left the band and lead singer Robin Zander joined after his contract with a Wisconsin resort was completed.

Chris Poland played with Circle Jerks briefly after being fired from Megadeth ( Zander Schloss had left the band by that point ).

In July 2008, Swedish / Danish band Amaranthe announced that keyboardist Rikard Zander, along with In Flames bassist Peter Iwers, would make a guest appearance on their upcoming album.

In high school, Zander sang for three years in the Madrigals, the most demanding of the three choral groups at his school, played basketball and football, and had a part-time job at a sandwich shop.

The year before, Hermann Oberth had published the influential theoretical work " Die Rakete zu den Planetenräumen " (" The rocket to interplanetary space "), which in turn introduced Zander and other Russian enthusiasts to the ground breaking work by Robert Goddard (" A Method of Reaching Extreme Altitudes " published in 1919 ).

Around this time, Zander became the first to suggest the solar sail as a means of spacecraft propulsion, although Johannes Kepler had suggested a solar wind sail in the 17th century.

Zander had designed the rocket, but did not live to see it fly, having died of Typhus in March of that year in the city of Kislovodsk.
