A fragment of poetry by Zayd ibn -' Amr ibn-Nufayl, quoted in the " Book of Idols ", suggests that al -‘ Uzzá had two daughters: " No more do I worship al -‘ Uzzá and her two daughters.

Assata Shakur was found guilty of the murder of both Foerster and her companion Zayd Shakur, but escaped prison in 1979 and eventually fled to Cuba and received political asylum.

When Muhammad married Khadija he found Zayd in her service and was so impressed by his good manners and conduct that he asked him of her.

During their marriage, Khadija purchased the slave Zayd ibn Harithah, then adopted the young man as her son at Muhammad's request.

Zaynab disapproved of the marriage and her brothers rejected it, because according to Ibn Sa'd, she was of aristocratic lineage and Zayd was a former slave and the adopted son of Muhammad.

Zaynab told Zayd about this, and Zayd offered to divorce her, but Muhammad told him to keep her.

She chose Zayd, who was then taken to her household.

Also on the occasion of marriage, Khadijah had given Zayd as a gift to her new husband.

When the Prophet Muhammad went to the house of Zaynab bint Jahsh to ask her hand for his adopted son, the family was shocked as they were excepting Muhammad to marry Zaynab bint Jahsh who also was his cousin, however the marriage took place but did not last long due to the lack of understanding between the couple and later Zayd divorced her.

Hence ' Ali ibn Abi Talib and ' Abdullah ibn Mas ' ud formed much of the base of the school, as well as other personalities from the household of the Prophet from whom Abu Hanifa had studied such as Muhammad al-Baqir, Ja ' far al-Sadiq, and Zayd ibn ' Ali.

Once Ali al-Ridha was summoned to Khurasan and he forcibly accepted the special conditions of the succession of al-Ma ' mun, al-Ma ' mun summoned his brother, Zayd, who had revolted and brought about a riot in Medina to his court in Khurasan.

* Umm Kulthum bint Ali married the second caliph Umar ibn al-Khattab and had two children with him: a son named Zayd who was famously known as Ibn Alkhalifatayn ( Arabic: ابن الخليفتين, son of the two caliphs and Imam Ali ) and a daughter called Ruqayya.

During a raid, raiders had captured the boy, Zayd.

Because of this disgraceful treatment, Zayd left Syria for Kufa, where he raised an army against the Bani Umayyad.

Zayd, having seen his own people, composed some poetry, which he left with them to take home to his family.

Zaidis accounts state the term Rafida was a term used by Zayd ibn Ali on those who rejected him in his last hours for his refusal to condemn the first two Caliphs of the Muslim world, Abu Bakr and Umar.

Zayd bitterly scolds the " rejectors " ( Rafidha ) who deserted him, an appellation used by Sunnis and Zaydis to refer to Twelver Shi ' ites to this day.

Zayd continued to correspond and advise him when he became khalifah.

Ali al-Ridha asked him saying, " Oh Zayd, have you trusted upon the words of the grocers of Kufa and are conveying them to the people?

In Pre Islamic Arabia adoption was common and Zayd was given to him as a slave by his wife Khadija.

Muhammad freed him and took him to Kaaba in Mecca and declared Zayd his son ( thus becoming one who received Muhammad's grace ).

One time, his nephew Said ibn Zayd taunted him for worshiping idols.

At that, he seethed with anger and strode up to Zayd, slapped him on the face and shouted:

Many years later Harithah found Zayd and asked if his son wanted to go home with him.

On May 2, 1973, at about 12: 45 a. m., Assata Shakur, along with Zayd Malik Shakur ( born James F. Costan ) and Sundiata Acoli ( born Clark Squire ), was stopped on the New Jersey Turnpike in East Brunswick by State Trooper James Harper, backed up by Trooper Werner Foerster in a second patrol vehicle ( Car 820 ), for driving with a broken tail light.

It is at this point, with the questioning of Zayd Shakur, that the accounts of the confrontation begin to differ ( see the witnesses section below ).

However, in the ensuing shootout, Trooper Foerster was shot twice in the head with his own gun and killed, Zayd Shakur was killed, and Assata Shakur and Trooper Harper were wounded.

Acoli then drove the car ( a white Pontiac LeMans with Vermont license plates )— which contained Assata Shakur, who was wounded, and Zayd Shakur, who was dead or dying — down the road at milepost 78 across from Service Area 8-N ( the Joyce Kilmer Service Area ), where Assata Shakur was apprehended.

East Brunswick was also the site of the gunfight at Turnpike Exit 9 shortly after midnight on May 2, 1973, in which a car being driven by Zayd Malik Shakur ( born James F. Costan ), with Assata Shakur ( formerly JoAnne Chesimard ) and Sundiata Acoli ( born Clark Squire ) as passengers, was stopped on the New Jersey Turnpike State Trooper James Harper, backed up by Trooper Werner Foerster in a second patrol vehicle.

After Zayd Shakur was asked to step out of the car to address a discrepancy in his identification, a shootout ensued in which Trooper Foerster was shot twice in the head with his own gun and killed, Zayd Shakur was killed, and both Assata Shakur and Trooper Harper were wounded.

A prominent example being that of Rabi ibn Zayd, a palace official who, sometime between 961 and 976, wrote the famous Calendar of Córdoba for Abd ar-Rahman III, undertook various diplomatic missions in Germania and Byzantium and was rewarded with the bishopric of Elvira ( present Granada ).

Abu Hanifah once said about Imam Zayd, " I met with Zayd and I never saw in his generation a person more knowledgeable, as quick a thinker, or more eloquent than he was.

People with the surname Zaidi, are the direct descendants of Prophet Muhammad's great-grandson Imam Zain-ul-Abideen whose real name was Ali ibn Husayn through his son Zayd ibn Ali.

Zayd with some troops fought his way to the mosque and called on people to come out.

Manuscripts of al-Harīrī's Maqāmāt, anecdotes of a roguish wanderer Abu Zayd from Saruj, were frequently illustrated with miniatures.

* The Alid dynasty of Yemen originated with Hasan ibn Hasan, brother of Zayd ibn Hasan ( see Zaydid dynasty above ).

* The Alid dynasty of Sharifs of Sousse ( Tunisia ) originated with Hasan ibn Hasan, brother of Zayd ibn Hasan ( see Zaydid dynasty above ).

* The Alid dynasty of Sharifs of Morocco ( the Alaouite dynasty dynasty ) began also with Hassan ibn Hassan, brother of Zayd ibn Hasan.

At the age of 12, Abu Zayd was imprisoned for allegedly sympathising with the Muslim Brotherhood.

El Masri is married to Arwa with three children Lamya, Zayd, and Serine.

In 8 AH Ja ' far was killed in the Battle of Mu ' tah which was fought against Byzantium along with Zayd ibn Harithah ( Muhammad's adopted son ), and ` Abd Allah ibn Rawahah.
