In 1949 the Soviets turned control of East Germany over to the Socialist Unity Party, headed by Wilhelm Pieck ( 1876 – 1960 ), who became president of the GDR and remained officially ' Number One ' until his death in 1960, while most executive authority was assumed by SED General Secretary Walter Ulbricht.

Its attempts to hint at the sex and sin shown more openly on Number 96 and The Box along with its high school setting and early evening time slot meant it came under intense scrutiny of the Broadcasting Control Board who vetted scripts and altered whole storylines.

As Second Lord, his official residence is Number 11 Downing Street in London, next door to the residence of the First Lord of the Treasury ( a post usually, though not always, held by the Prime Minister ), who resides in 10 Downing Street.

The money bin is the victim of repeated assaults by Scrooge's enemies who try to steal his money, such as the Beagle Boys, who are after the bulk of Scrooge's money, and Magica DeSpell, who is after Scrooge's " Number One Dime " ( the first dime Scrooge ever earned ).

Heinlein's last novels, The Number of the Beast ( 1980 ), the heroes flee Earth in a car capable of flight in six dimensions and find several alternate versions of Mars, one which had been colonised by the British and another which is an improbable combination of Burroughs ' fabulous Barsoom with the home planet of the vicious Martians whose invasion of Earth was described by Wells.
