The location was also used in the 2011 Tour de France when Stage 18 finished at the summit of the nearby Col du Galibier, Luxembourg climbing specialist Andy Schleck won the stage with a long solo breakaway from the finish and finished the Tour second overall, losing to Australian cyclist, Cadel Evans.

Despite predictions from the music press that the band would fold without Wood, who had been the driving force behind the creation of ELO, Lynne stepped up to lead the band, with Bev Bevan remaining on drums, joined by Gibson, Richard Tandy ( now on the Moog synthesiser ), Mike de Albuquerque on bass and vocals and Mike Edwards and Colin Walker on cellos.

Within three years, Sather and chief scout Barry Fraser had drafted several players who would have an important role in the team's success, including Mark Messier, Glenn Anderson, Jari Kurri, Paul Coffey, Kevin Lowe, Grant Fuhr and Andy Moog.

Andy Moog also failed to report ; he was tired of being Grant Fuhr's backup goalie.

Defenseman Grant Ledyard tripped in overtime of game seven allowing Todd Marchant to score the game and series winning goal on a breakaway against Andy Moog.
