Octavian and Hume
Founded in 1885 by members of the occultist movement Theosophical Society — Allan Octavian Hume, Dadabhai Naoroji, Dinshaw Wacha, Womesh Chandra Bonnerjee, Surendranath Banerjee, Monomohun Ghose, Mahadev Govind Ranade
Allan Octavian Hume noted based on the observation of " hundreds of nests " that they always nested on large trees near habitations even when there were convenient cliffs in the vicinity.

Allan Octavian Hume ( 6 June 1829-31 July 1912 ) was a civil servant, political reformer and amateur ornithologist and horticulturalist in British India.
The 27th session of the Indian National Congress at Bankipur ( 26 – 28 December 1912 ) recorded their " profound sorrow at the death of Allan Octavian Hume, C. B., father and founder of the Congress, to whose lifelong services, rendered at rare self-sacrifice, India feels deep and lasting gratitude, and in whose death the cause of Indian progress and reform sustained irreparable loss.

Allan Octavian Hume said of him:
In his spare time he collected birds in the Punjab and the Himalayas, and sent these to Allan Octavian Hume.
He wrote The Game Birds of India, Burmah and Ceylon along with Allan Octavian Hume in three volumes between 1878 and 1880.
Another son, Allan Octavian Hume, a renowned ornithologist, also went into the Indian Civil Service and was involved in much political activism during his career, especially on behalf of India, and founded the Indian National Congress.
