Architecturally notable Shriners Temples include the New York City Center, now used as a concert hall, Newark Symphony Hall, The Landmark Theater ( formerly The Mosque ) in Richmond, Virginia, the Tripoli Shrine Temple in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the Helena Civic Center ( Montana ) ( formerly the Algeria Shrine Temple ), and the Fox Theatre ( Atlanta, Georgia ) which was jointly built between the Atlanta Shriners and William Fox.

In March 1865, while Lincoln met at City Point with Grant, Sherman and Admiral David Dixon Porter, Union forces finally took Petersburg and then captured Richmond in April, after an unsuccessful Confederate assault on Fort Stedman.

These five are each called borough in context of City government – Manhattan, The Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island ( formerly Richmond ); but are still called " county " where state function is involved, e. g., " New York County Courthouse ", not " Manhattan ".

New York City is famously coextensive with five counties or boroughs: the Bronx ( which is Bronx County ), Brooklyn ( Kings County ), Manhattan ( New York County ), Queens ( Queens County ), and Staten Island ( Richmond County ).

In 1894, Brooklyn residents voted by a slight majority to join with Manhattan, The Bronx, Queens, and Richmond ( later Staten Island ) to become the five boroughs of the modern New York City.

With the endorsements of black power brokers, black clergy and the Richmond Crusade for Voters, South Richmond residents made history, electing Reverend A. Carl Prince to the Richmond City Council.

As the first African American Baptist Minister elected to the Richmond City Council, Prince's election paved the way for a political paradigm shift in politics that persist today.

The Honorable Dwight C. Jones, a prominent Baptist pastor and former Chairman of the Richmond School Board and Member of the Virginia House of Delegates serves as Mayor of the City of Richmond.

The mayor is not a part of the Richmond City Council.

Only four teams have won more than one championship: Springfield in 1996 and 1998, Johnstown in 1995 ( as the Steal ) and in 2000 ( as the Johnnies ), Richmond ( now Traverse City ) in 2001 and 2002, and Windy City in 2007 and 2008.

In 1634, it became part of the first eight shires of Virginia, as Charles City County, one of the oldest in the United States, and is located along Virginia State Route 5, which runs parallel to the river's northern borders past sites of many of the James River Plantations between the colonial capital city of Williamsburg ( now the site of Colonial Williamsburg ) and the capital of the Commonwealth of Virginia at Richmond.

As such, a modified crest very similar to the one most recently used will remain a part of Richmond Hill's brand and will be used for official Council business only.

About 1919, the Council of Richmond Hill commissioned a crest for its signs and stationery.

The crest will be reserved for use by the Mayor and Council for official Town of Richmond Hill business such as plaques, certificates presented on behalf of Council or the corporation, Councillor ’ s stationery, as well as the Town flag.

Richmond Castle, completed in 1086, consisted of a keep with walls encompassing the area now known as the Market Place.

In 1914, the riding consisted or New Westminster, Richmond and Delta-the Surrey-Langley area had become part of the Fraser Valley riding.

This riding was created in 1914 from Cape Breton South and Richmond ridings, It consisted of the electoral district of South Cape Breton and the county of Richmond.

It initially consisted of the county of Prince Edward and the townships of Adolphustown, Amherst Island, Fredericksburg ( North and South ) and Richmond in the county of Lennox and Addington.

It consisted of the County of Richmond and the part of the County of Cape Breton lying east of East Bay and south of the electoral district of Cape Breton South.

It consisted of the counties of Inverness and Richmond and part of the county of Cape Breton ( the municipal districts of Bateston ( No. 24 ), Catalone ( No. 15 ), Gabarus ( No. 7 ), Grand Mira ( No. 17 ), Louisburg Parish ( No. 6 ), Main-à-Dieu ( No. 5 ), and Trout Brook ( No. 16 )), including the town of Louisburg.

It consisted of the towns of Richmond Hill and Whitchurch-Stouffville, and the part of the town of Markham ( now a city ) north of 16th Avenue.
