On November 8, 2011, the band released Time Machine 2011: Live in Cleveland, a concert DVD, Blu-ray and double CD documenting the April 15, 2011, concert at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

The limited edition Blu-ray with a newly restored picture was released on August 31, 2010 in the United States, featuring two discs with audio commentary with writer / director Sam Raimi, producer Robert Tapert and star Bruce Campbell.

In commentary on the Blu-ray edition of Star Trek, director J. J. Abrams called Galaxy Quest " one of the best " Star Trek " movies ever made.

The high-definition Blu-ray Disc edition of the film featuring the director's audio commentary, the making of the film, and deleted scenes was released in the United States on June 3, 2008.

Only the discontinued HD DVD system directly supported E-AC-3, though Blu-ray Disc offers E-AC-3 as an option to graft added channels onto an otherwise 5. 1 AC-3 stream, as well as for delivery of secondary audio content ( e. g. director's commentary ) that is intended to be mixed with the primary audio soundtrack in the Blu-ray Disc player.

According to Boorman's running commentary on the DVD and Blu-ray editions, the studio wanted the scene shot two ways, one of which would be acceptable for TV.

Paramount released Fatal Attraction on Blu-ray Disc on June 9, 2009 with several bonus features from the original 2002 " Special Collector's Edition " DVD, including commentary by director Adrian Lyne, cast and crew interviews, a look at the cultural phenomenon of the movie, a behind-the-scenes look, rehearsal footage, alternate ending, and original theatrical trailer ( both in high definition ).

Mean Streets was released on Blu-ray for the first time on April 6, 2011 in France.

It is also used on Blu-ray Discs, but these normally use MPEG-4 Part 10 or SMPTE VC-1 for high-definition content.

MIPS Technologies has a strong customer licensee base in home electronics and portable media players ; 75 percent of Blu-ray Disc players are running on MIPS Technologies processors.

Lionsgate released the film on Blu-ray on October 19, 2010.

In the 1990s ( before Blu-ray Disc or HDTV ), when so-called " Sixteen-By-Nine " or " Widescreen " televisions offered a wider 16: 9 aspect ratio ( 1. 78 times the height instead of 1. 33 ), they allowed films made at 1. 66: 1 and 1. 85: 1 to fill most or all of the screen, with only small letterboxing or cropping required.

On February 17, 2009 – Paramount announced the Season 1 of TOS on Blu-ray Disc for a May release to coincide with the new feature film coming from Paramount.

Although the show was produced with HDTV in mind, CBS Home Entertainment currently has no plans to release the show on Blu-ray.

HD DVDs would continue to be released through May 2008 ( when their contract with the HD DVD promotion group expired ), but only following Blu-ray and DVD releases.

In March 2009, EuroArts released Amor, Vida de Mi Vida, a recording on Blu-ray disc of an August 2007 zarzuela concert by Plácido Domingo and Ana María Martínez, with the Mozarteum Orchestra of Salzburg conducted by Jesús López-Cobos.

In April 2009, BBC / Opus Arte released a Blu-ray disc of a July 2006 performance of Federico Moreno Torroba's Luisa Fernanda with Plácido Domingo and Nancy Herrera, recorded at the Teatro Real de Madrid with Jesús López-Cobos conducting.

The player activates DVD and Blu-ray playback functionality with support for menus, titles and chapters, parental controls and audio track language selection if compatible decoders are installed.
