Usual titles are Your Holiness for a patriarch ( with Your All-Holiness for the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople ), Your Beatitude for an archbishop in charge of an autocephalous church, Your Eminence for an archbishop, Master or Your Grace for a bishop and Father for priests, deacons and monks though there are variations between the various Orthodox Churches.

The Karmapa ( officially His Holiness the Gyalwa Karmapa, sometimes spelled Gyalwang Karmapa ) is the head of the Karma Kagyu, the largest sub-school of the Kagyupa ( Tibetan Bka ' brgyud ), itself one of the four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism.

Churches established in the city in later years include Beech Grove Wesleyan Church ( formerly Pilgrim Holiness Church, in the 1920s ); Independent Nazarene Church ( in the 1950s ); Faith Assembly of God ( Assemblies of God, 1958 ); South Emerson Church of God ( Reformation Movement, Church of God ( Anderson ), 1961 ); Southwood Baptist Church ( Southern Baptist Convention, 1962 ); and Ascension Lutheran Church ( Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, 1972 ).

Rather than waiting for the 50th or 49th year, the Deuteronomic code requires that Hebrew slaves be liberated during their 7th year of service, as does the Covenant Code, which some textual scholars regard as pre-dating the Holiness Code ; the Book of Ezekiel, which some textual scholars also regard as earlier than the Holiness Code, refers to a year of liberty (< big > שנת דרור </ big >), during which property is returned to the original owner ( or their heirs ), but the word < big > דרור </ big > is used by Jeremiah to describe the release of slaves during the Sabbatical year, which various scholars take to imply that Ezekiel must have been referring to the sabbatical year.

The Armenian Apostolic Church presently has two catholicoi ( His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians ; and Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia ), and two patriarchs, plus primates, archbishops and bishops, lower clergy and laity serving the Church.

The Church of the Nazarene is currently a member of the Christian Holiness Partnership, the Global Wesleyan Alliance, the National Association of Evangelicals, the World Methodist Council, Mission Exchange ( formerly the Evangelical Fellowship of Missions Agencies ), the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, the Wesleyan Holiness Consortium, and the Wesleyan Holiness Study Project.

Other titles commonly used are " His Holiness " ( either used alone or as an honorific prefix " His Holiness Pope Lando "; and as " Your Holiness " as a form of address )), " Holy Father ".

In Rome, since the papacy of His Holiness John Paul II, the heights of the Temple of Venus and Roma and their position opposite the main entrance to the Colosseum have been used to good effect as a public address platform.

In an address to a theological symposium, Holiness and the World, which studied the teachings of Josemaria Escriva, John Paul II referred to one of his homilies:

The associated form of address is " Your Holiness ".

The Pope's visit was itself advertised by one enterprising president as a Newman Society event: Oxonians were informed that " His Holiness the Pope will address Newman Society members and others in Coventry.

Cardinals are styled as His Eminence, Patriarchs as His Beatitude and the Pope as His Holiness ( and addressed as Your Eminence, etc.

Upon being asked by the Pope what his vocation was, Medwick replied, " Your Holiness, I'm Joe Medwick.

He says things like, “ Pardon me, Your Holiness, but my role ( which gives me great honor but also a certain responsibility ) is also that of a respectful “ provocateur ” with regard to questions ...”.

Holiness was interpreted by many Christian mainline denominations of the late nineteenth century as heresy because proponents of Holiness taught that an individual could be delivered from the practice of sin and live free from sin in this present world through the power of the Holy Spirit.

At the turn of the Twentieth Century, a new doctrine about the " Baptism of the Holy Ghost " was being taught in many Holiness churches.

The segment of believers who continued to follow Jones and Jeter rejecting the new Pentecostal teaching of the baptism of the Holy Ghost continued as a Holiness church and became the of Christ ( Holiness ) U. S. A. in 1915.

As a Holiness church of the Wesleyan tradition, COGIC believes that Sanctification is " that gracious and continuous operation of the Holy Ghost, by which He delivers the justified sinner from the pollution of sin, renews his whole nature in the image of God and enables him to perform good works ".

The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin () is the spiritual and administrative headquarters of the worldwide Armenian Church, the center of the faith of the Armenian nation – the Mother Cathedral of the Armenian Church, and the Pontifical residence of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians.

The Nazarene Church distinguishes itself from many other Protestant churches because of its belief that God's Holy Spirit empowers Christians to be constantly obedient to Him — similar to the belief of other churches in the Evangelical Holiness movement.

" Holiness living ", for Oneness Pentecostals, proceeds from love rather than duty, and is motivated by the holy nature inparted by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

Early in the 20th century, many in the Holiness movement also embraced Pentecostalism, which equated the second work of grace with the baptism of the Holy Spirit, whose outward sign was speaking in tongues.

Since the adoption of the article of faith on the baptism of the Holy Spirit in 1908, the Pentecostal Holiness Church has taught the following beliefs as their five cardinal doctrines: justification by faith, entire sanctification, the baptism in the Holy Spirit evidenced by speaking in tongues, Christ's atonement ( including divine healing ), and the premillennial second coming of Christ.

The United Holy Church of America, Inc. is a predominantly Black Pentecostal Holiness Christian denomination.

An honorific often accorded to those who are styled " His Holiness " is " Holy Father ".

In particular, Popes are often styled " the Holy Father, His Holiness Pope ...".

Of the powers which he says the Holy Father granted him I know nothing ; from the letters of His Holiness you will learn better what has passed in the matter ; although for this he merits very severe punishment, it appears to me that you should not inflict it, except in such a way that, his life being saved, he may be punished according to his errors.
