More specifically, the Osage Village of Little Town was described as " Little Town Above " by the Jesuits, to distinguish it from another village, which was sometimes located just to the east of Little Town, called " Little Town Below.

Above the west bank of the river, about a mile away, is the village of West Stour.

Above the village at Hemplow, on Mount Road ( at the terminus of the Hard End bus service ) is a sports ground which hosts Marsdens cricket, golf and tennis clubs as well as Hemplow Bowling Club.

Above the village on Rampisham Down is a large transmiting station which was one of the main BBC World Service transmitter sites, operated by Babcock International Group as part of the takeover of VT Group ( formerly VT Communications and Merlin Communications following the privatisation of BBC Transmission Services in 1997 ).

Above these ( or west ) would be Nutgtrove House – half way to Rathfarnam village.

Above the village, at the top of Folkton Hill, was where the ‘ Folkton Drums ’ were discovered.

The village was originally within the ancient parish of Ruabon and the district was referred to as Morton Above ( i. e. Morton, or moor town, above Offa's Dyke ) or Morton Wallichorum ( the Welsh Morton ).

Above the village is Sham Castle, a folly built in 1762 by Richard James, master mason for Ralph Allen, " to improve the prospect " from Allen's town house in Bath.
