Ruling over one of them from the castellum Vangionis ( locative case of either Vangionis or Vangio ) is the Praefectus militum Secundae Flaviae, Vangiones ; that is, the prefect of a district called Secunda Flavia among the Vangiones.

In 376, with the outbreak of the Gothic War, Farnobius led his people across the Danube from Muntenia, and poured into Moesia Secunda, together with two other Greuthungi tribes, led by Alatheus and Saphrax.
